2013 Playoffs VS Pacers (Series 1)

Hawks down 3-2

Lance Stephenson with the first bucket of the game, a three.
Devin knocked down a 3 at the 9:12 mark to even it up. Then, after Paul George's dunk, Jeff hit a 3.
Smoove with the stream line pass to Devin for 3 to even it up again. 6:37 minutes to go.
And then the Hawks took the lead after Al's pass to Johan for the hook shot.
Smoove muscled his way to the basket but George Hill answered with a layup. Game tied at 13.
Johan knocked down a jumper and the Hawks lead was at 4, 17-13. 3:05 minutes on the clock.
Hibbert's basket tied the game at 18, 1:01 to go.
Jeff drove to the bucket to give the Hawks a two-point lead.
Tyler Hansbrough rebounded his miss off the FT to give the Hawks a one-point deficit at the end of the first quarter.
2nd Quarter
Kyle with the stepback jumper to put the Hawks back within one.
D.J. Augustin with the tough move against defenders, Hawks down 3. 9:22 minutes on the clock.
Then David West hit a wide open jumpshot.
Al Horford's FTs put the Hawks deficit at 3 and was the first change to the score since Kyle's shot.
George's jumper put the Hawks down 5 with 4:23 minutes left.
Smoove knocked down both FTs to put the Hawks within 4.
Jeff with a great block and then Kyle hit his FTs to put the Hawks within 2, 3:21 minutes to go.
Stephenson with the tricky crossover to score for the Pacers and the Hawks deficit was at 4.

3rd Quarter
West two FTs put the Hawks at a 17-point deficit but they showed some bit of life as Al scored.
Al scored again after muscling his way to the bucket but the Hawks were down 17 still with 5:57 minutes left.
Smoove making grown man moves to the basket but the Hawks can't break that 17-point deficit.
Devin's assist to Ivan and then the fake to bring the Hawks within 15 with 3:40 minutes to go.
Kyle knocked down 3 FTs that were answered by Hill's 3.
Smoove with the pass to Ivan and the Hawks showed a bit of life.
Smoove hit both FTs, Hawks down 15.
4th Quarter
Devin's jumper was smooth but the Hawks couldn't find much to stop the Pacers.
Exchanging baskets until West's missed jumper, Hawks down 14 after Jeff's split FTs.
Then Devin with a steal and lay-in to put the Hawks within 11 with 9:05 minutes left.
Kyle with the reverse layup and the Hawks were only down 9!
Jeff drove to the bucket and the deficit was at 7 with 5:29 minutes on the clock.
Al YAMMED on Hibbert! Hawks down 5. 4:02 minutes to go.
Al split his FTs to bring the Hawks within 4.
Smoove with the fake to hook the shot in and the Hawks still down 4. 2:55 minutes left.
Al YAMMED on Hibbert again! Hawks down 3. 2:27 minutes left.
Hawks fell to the Pacers 81-73.

Hawks down 2-1

Smoove with the first bucket of the game!
Pacers looking like they had more energy, go up 4 points quickly but the Hawks didn't waver. Al hit a jumper and the Hawks were within 2 with less than 10 minute left.
Petro went in strong to keep the deficit at 2 and then grabbed the rebound to draw a foul from David West.
Then Petro again with the layup off of the pass from Al. Tied game at 8, 8 minutes on the clock.
Devin with the pump fake and pass to Smoove for the one-handed jam!
Both teams exchanging shots, tied at 12 with 6 minutes to go.
Kyle's first shot of the game was a jumper that got love of the rim and bounced in.
After Paul George's three, the Oacers were in an offensive groove and the Hawks were down 7.
Al muscled his way to lay it in and end the Hawks' offensive struggles.
Then great defensive, a rebound from Kyle and a pass from Devin led to another Al shot.
Devin poked the ball away and Smoove ended up making both of his FTs. Hawks down 1 with 30 seconds left.
Devin drove to the bucket with 5 seconds on the clock and got that love of the rim! Hawks up 1 at the end of the first.
2nd Quarter
Smoove passed to AT for 3!
Raining threes as Kyle hit a TRE!
Then Smoove with the putback dunk off of Devin's miss and the Hawks were up 8 with 10:29 minutes left.
Smoove knocked down a jumper after D.J. Augustin hit a J.
AT for 3!
Smoove split his FTs and the Hawks went up 36-24 with 8:10 minutes on the clock.
Gerald Green knocked down a three but Kyle answered it and the lead was still at 12.
Augustin's three gave the Pacers hope until they couldn't finish off of a turnover and the Hawks rebounded and Jeff drove to keep the lead in double digits. 6:20 minutes left.
Lance Stephenson hit a three, Hawks still up 8.
Smoove knocked down a 3, Hawks up 11...until it was answered by Augustin.
Kyle for 3!!! 11 for Hot Sauce.
From Devin to Smoove to tip in his own miss! Hawks up 52-38, less than 2 minutes left.
Devin for 3!!!
DeShawn came in and grabbed the offensive rebound that led to Jeff's trip to the line.
Hawks up 57-40 at the half.
3rd Quarter
Pacers came out the break feeling good, but the Hawks were still up 57-44 with 2 minutes having passed.
Kyle knocked down the jumper.
Petro beautifully passed to Al under the bucket for the JAM.
Stephenson's layup brought the Hawks' lead down to 9. A little less than 6 minutes to go.
Pacers fighting their way back in it, Hawks lead cut to 6.
Smoove split his FTs to put the Hawks up 5 and then he stole the ball!
Hawks strugging offensively until Devin drove to the bucket and brought the lead to 8 with 1:10 minutes left.
69-62 Hawks at the end of three.
4th Quarter
Ivan with a crucial offensive board and Jeff went to the line to split the FTs.
Then Ivan drew the foul giving Hibbert five. Hawks up 70-62, 10:15 to go.
Pacers broke the Hawks' lead down to 5 but then a Smoove jam off of the pass from Jeff took them back up.
AT knocked down a 3 to put the Hawks up 10 with 8:24 minutes on the clock.
Al split his FTs as the Hawks were up 76-67, less than 8 minutes.
Steal and a three by George, Hawks lead cut to 6.
Al knocked down both FTs.
West cleaned up a missed FT to make it a three-point play. Hawks up 5 with 6:35 minutes left.
Kyle for 3!!! Hawks up 83-74 with 5:19 minutes left...answered by a George three.
Al was fouled hard but continued to play just as hard. Hawks up 5 with 3:44 minutes on the clock.
Smoove knocked down a 3 to put the Hawks up 8. Less than 3 minutes left.
Great assist and rebound by Smoove to Kyle for 3! Hawks up 92-83!
George with 21 points, but the Hawks up 5 with 1:30 to go.
Al hit his classic jumpshot!
Then Jeff took it down the court, and Al passed it to Smoove for the JAM! 96-87, Hawks.
Hawks win 102-91 to tie the series.

Hawks down 0-2 in the series but this was the first home game.

Hawks off to a slow start going down 7 until Petro dunked it with 9 minutes to go.
Then Smoove went in strong and the deficit was just 3.
And Smoove went to the bucket again for the and-one play with 6:13 minutes left, tied at 9.
Ivan picking pockets to save the possession and pass to Jeff for the shot to take the lead and then after a Lance Stephenson three, Jeff hit another. Hawks up 1 with 4:10 on the clock.
Al with the JAM after the pass from Smoove and the crowd went crazy! Hawks up 3.
Ivan with another big play to rebound Smoove's miss and lay it in.
After Kyle's big 3, Hawks go up 22-14 with less than 2 minutes left.
Devin hit that spin move and threw it up to put the Hawks up 10. 1 minute to go.
From Smoove to AT for 3! Hawks up 27-14 at the end of one!
2nd Quarter
Ivan continued to clean up under the rim and laid it in. Hawks up 29-14.
Smoove's FTs would put the Hawks lead at 31-14 with 11 minutes left.
Josh with the jumper and the Hawks have a lead of 19 points.
Smoove's slam put the Hawks up 35-17, 8:38 on the clock when Ivan went to the line to split the FTs.
Al backed down Tyler Hansbrough to jam over him.
A little ugliness as David West got into it and then Al slid across the floor. A technical and flagrant later, Hawks still up by 30.
Al hit that step back jumper and the Hawks were up 45-21 with less than 2 minutes left.
Smoove and the one-handed SLAM!
Hawks up 49-25 with 1:38 minutes to go.
Paul George hit a 3 but Hawks still up 49-28.
Devin with the last shot of the game and the Hawks up 54-30 at the half!
3rd Quarter
Smoove with the smart pass to Petro for the hook shot. Hawks up 56-32.
Smoove hit that fadeaway jumper, boyyyyy!
Petro spun away from the defense and laid it in! Hawks up 62-36, 7:46 minutes to go.
Pacers finding points in the paint and (some) at the line. Hawks still up 66-46 with 3:51 minutes left.
Ivan with the steal, Kyle with the 3! Hawks up 71-46 with 1:46 minutes left.
Jeff with the dart pass to Ivan in the paint and he JAMMED with one hand. Hawks up 75-47 with 5 seconds left.
End of the third quarter, Hawks up 75-49!
4th Quarter
Gerald Green opened up the scoring of the quarter.
Some offensive woes and fouls on the big men but the Hawks were still leading 75-53. 9:06 minutes left.
Al tipped it in to put the Hawks up 77-53.
Pacers still finding a lot of their points at the charity stripe. Hawks still lead by 18 with 7:38 minutes to go.
Jeff with the and-one play! Missed the FT but the Hawks still up 20.
From Smoove to Al for the SLAM. Hawks up 20 with 6:05 minutes on the clock.
And then from Smoove to Al for another classic. Hawks went up 22 on those Pacers. 4 minutes left.
Al with the step back jumpshot.
LD put the reserves in and they played some good defense to keep the lead. Mike split his FTs to put the Hawks up 21 points with 1 minute left.
Johnny J then passed to Mike who muscled his way to lay it in.
Hawks won 90-69!

4/16 Hawks VS Raptors

Rudy Gay scored the first bucket f the game but Smoove answered.
Kyle hit his three to continue his streak at 73 games! Hawks down one with 9:23 on the clock but Smoove answered with a three!
A lot of back and forth and the game was tied at 15 with 6:46 minutes left.
Mike's layup put the Hawks within one of the Raptors with 4:46 minutes on the clock.
Gay's jumper put the Hawks at a 7-point deficit with 1:05 minutes left.
Ivan put the Hawks within 5 with 36.8 seconds on the clock.
Then Shelvin drove to lay it in and the Hawks were only down 4.
Good defense from Mike to stop Gay from scoring at the buzzer. Hawks down 3 at the end of the quarter.
2nd Quarter
Hawks down 9 after John Lucas III was fouled.
Devin knocked down a 3 to bring the deficit to 6 and then Smoove went hard in the paint after a Raptors jumper to go to the line with 7:37 minutes left.
Kyle's jumper put the Hawks within 10 after Toronto's hot second and there were 3:27 minutes left.
Ivan's hookshot put the Hawks within 14 with 2:14 minutes to go.
Hawks down 17 at the half.
3rd Quarter
DeMar DeRozan hit a three at the buzzer to put the Hawks deficit at 15 with 8:10 minutes left.
Johan's FTs put the Hawks within 13.
Ivan with the steal and then JAM.
Ivan with the double-double (102 points and 10 rebounds) and jam to put the Hawks deficit at 13 with less than 6 minutes left.
Dahntay's 3 kept the Hawks in it.
Gay's 3 put the Hawks down 20.
AT with the steal and eventual lay-in but the Hawks were down 10 after a 3.
Hawks 11 at the end of three.
4th Quarter
Mike's jumper put the Hawks within 18 with 7:41 minutes left.
Then Johnny J hit that J and the deficit was 16.
Mike's lay-up gave him a double-double (11 points and 10 rebounds) and put the Hawks within 16.
Hawks fell to the Raptors by 17.

4/12 Hawks Vs Bucks

Kyle hit that first shot of the night! A three to continue his streak at 72 games.
Hawks off to a solid start and quickly go up 9-5 with 10 minutes to go in the quarter.
Ersan Ilyasova found himself hot from three and then produced a three-point play to tie the game at 14 with 6:37 minutes left.
John Henson's trips to the FT line put the Hawks in a 2-point deficit.
Mike Dunleavy's three put the Bucks up four with 3:42 minutes left.
Johnny J hit that J at the shot clock buzzer.
Ilyasova with 14 points in the first quarter but the Hawks only down three with 2:50 minutes on the clock.
Smoove's jumper was nothing but net and the Hawks were still down three.
Ivan with the steal and then the pass to Smoove for the JAM. Hawks down 1 with less than a minute.
Bucks shooting hot from three, Hawks down seven after Monta Ellis knocked down one.
Ivan's block at the buzzer but the Hawks were down six at the end of the quarter.
2nd Quarter
Al muscled his way and shot the J to put the Hawks within four.
Johnny J with the reverse lay-up AND the foul! Hawks down two with 7:53 minutes on the clock.
Bucks shooting 60% from the three-point line, Hawks down eight with 5:48 minutes left.
Hawks went down ten after Henson laid it in.
Bucks connecting on every shot, Hawks down 13 with 2:46 minutes to go.
Jeff's FTs put the Hawks within 14 with less than 2 minutes on the clock.
At the end of the first half, Hawks had a deficit of 14.
3rd Quarter
J.J. Redick opened up the scoring with a three.
Smoove went in to lay it in and draw the foul. Hawks down 16 with 10:39 left and then Smoove stole it and passed to Devin!
Back-to-back steals led to a Devin three and Hawks were within 11 with less than 10 minutes to go.
Then Devin's FTs brought the Hawks within 9. The rally was on!
Devin drove to the bucket after great defense and the Hawks were only down 7 with 8:50 minutes left.
Jeff's and-one would bring the Hawks back to a deficit of 7.
Ilyasova's three put the Hawks down 10 but Smoove went hard to bring the Hawks back within 8 with 6 minutes left.
Jeff's JAM brought the Hawks' deficit to 6 with a little less than 5 minutes to go.
Al's jumper put the Hawks within five with 3:37 minutes on the clock.
Ekpe Udoh's FTs would have the Hawks down 7...until hot Al brought them back within five.
Devin's three gave the Hawks some life as they were still down 7 after the Ellis's three. 41.4 seconds to go.
Ellis hit a crazy three but Ivan went up strong for the and-one play.
Hawks down 7 at the end of the 3rd.
4th Quarter
DeShawn knocked down a three but the Bucks were playing hard, Hawks down 7 with a little under 10 minutes to go.
Ivan muscled his way to the bucket for the hook shot, Hawks down 5 with 9:23 minutes on the clock.
Ivan SLAM brought the Hawks within four.
Ivan feeling it with 9 points, keeping the Hawks in the game.
Devin knocked down a three at the shot clock buzzer after Al saved it.
Hawks down 2 with 6:14 minutes on the clock.
Jeff drove through the D to tie it with 5 minutes left.
From Jeff to Al for the lead!
Al went up strong for the SLAM! Hawks up 96-92 with 4:04 minutes left.
Smoove then went up STRONG and the Hawks were leading 98-92.
Jeff drove to the bucket to put the Hawks up 102-97 with 1:41 minutes left.
Hawks up 105-99 with 24.6 seconds left.
Ellis hit a three but the Hawks were still up 105-102 with possession and 17.8 seconds to go!
Al hit two clutch FTs to put the Hawks up five with 17.4 seconds on the clock.
Hawks win 109-104!

4/5 Hawks VS Sixers

Jeff scored the first bucket of the game with the assist from Kyle.
Thaddeus Young answered with a jumpshot and then Kyle knocked down a J of his own.
Smoove passed up a jumper to pass to Jeff for the three ball and the Hawks were off to a hot start.
Spencer Hawes' shot put the Sixers up one with 8:44 minutes on the clock.
Young wih a quick 6 points but Smoove's JAM off of Al's pass put the Hawks up 1 with 7:39 minutes left.
Hawks down 4 as LD called timeout at the 6:21 minute mark.
After Damien Wilkins' lay-up, the Hawks were down 9 and then Evan Turner's shot made it an 11-point deficit.
DeShawn knocked down the jumper but Turner was hot from the three line.
Hawks down 10 at the 4 minute mark.
Deficit pushed to 13 after Lavoy Allen's FTs.
Shelvin finally laid it in after the Hawks' offense went stale. Hawks down 12 with 3 seconds on the clock.
Hawks down 14 at the end of the quarter.
2nd quarter
Nick Young's three continued the hurting on the Hawks as the Hawks couldn't find an answer for the perimeter shooting.
Hawks were down 17 after Al's classic jumper with 9:49 minutes on the clock.
Ivan's lay-up put the Hawks within 17.
Then Ivan again went up strong to put some life into the Hawks.
Ivan going up yet AGAIN strong and making the and-one play.

3rd Quarter

4/3 Hawks VS Knicks

Carmelo Anthony with the jumpshot to score the first game bucket but Kyle knocked down a three to continue his streak at 69 consecutive games!
After Smoove's shot and DeShawn's three, Hawks were rolling and up 6 points with 9:37 left in the game.
Fastbreak and lay-up by Iman Shumpert and the Hawks lead was cut to 2 with 6:14 minutes to go.
JR Smith's shot at the buzzer brought the Hawks to a deficit of one point with 2 minutes on the clock.
Shelvin anserwed Anthony's three but the Hawks were still down 3 and then Anthony knocked down a crazy fadeaway jumper.
Hawks down 23-18 at the end of the first.
2nd Quarter
Kyle pulled up to the jumper, baby! Hawks down 3 at the top of the quarter.
Then Kyle answered Smith's jumper with a three! Hawks down 2, Kyle with a quick 8 points.
Shelvin's jumper put the Hawks back within three with 9:17 minutes on the clock.
Knicks getting much rim love as their shots bounced in, Hawks down 6 with 7:38 minutes left.
Al caught the rebound off of his miss and laid it in.
Anthony finding much of his rhythm from the previous night of 50 points, he had 16 points. Hawks down 7 with 5:41 minutes in the game.
Kyle drove to the bucket to lay it in, Knicks defense was not expecting that (Jason Kidd...)
Smoove answered Anthony's shot but the Hawks were still down 5 with 4:15 minutes on the clock.
Kyle knocked down a three and the Hawks were within 2!
Jeff's FTs tied the game at 38 with 2:30 on the clock.
Steve Novak's three pushed the Hawks deficit to 5.
Smoove with the and-one dunk!
Hawks down 7 after a monster first half by Anthony, he had 24 first half points.
3rd Quarter
Kyle opened up the scoring with a three! He had 18 points with 11 minutes on the clock.
Tyson Chandler called for the goaltend and the Hawks were within four.
Pablo Prigioni hit a three that was soon answered by Kyle's threeeeee!
Very poor shot selection and Anthony's hot streak and the Hawks were down 8 with 7:09 minutes left.
Al found Kyle in the corner and he knocked down another three to put the Hawks within five.
Al muscled his way to the bucket and the Hawks brought the deficit to three.
Then DeShawn drove to the hoop to lay it in.
Prigioni hit a three but the Hawks were fighting their way back in it.
Smoove found Ivan then Ivan went up for the and-one play. Hawks down one after Ivan's FT. 4:30 on the clock.
Jeff drove to the bucket for the lay-up and lead!
Jeff stole the ball to lay it in and tie the game at 62 with 2:43 minutes left.
Spectacular save by Smoove then Shelvin drove and the game was once again tied at 64! 1:32 minutes left.
Smoove to Tolly for THREE! Hawks up 2 with 30 seconds left.
Smith hit the jumper at the buzzer and the game was tied at 68.
4th Quarter
Ivan muscled his way to the bucket to tie the game at 72 with 9:36 minutes left.
Al's jumper brought the Hawks within four after a small offensive burst from the Knicks but Raymond Felton found his way to the bucket again to make the deficit 6 points with 6:51 minutes left.
Hawks were down 10 with 5:33 minutes left until Jeff's floater.
Smith knocked down a three and the Hawks were down 10 again after Shelvin's FT.
Hawks fall 95-82.

4/1 Hawks VS Cavaliers

Hawks off to a good start with two steals that were converted to 4 points.
Wayne Ellington knocked down a three to put the Cavs up 1 with 9:29 minutes to go.
Kyle for threeeee to extend his streak to 68 games!
Hawks were up 12-5 with 7:16 on the clock.
After Smoove's necessary offensive rebound, Kyle hit the three again.
Tyler Zeller's wide open dunk would've been more impressive had the Hawks not had a lead of 8 points, unfortunately, he was able to drive again for another dunk that brought the lead down to 6 with 2:19 minutes on the clock.
2nd Quarter
Al's jumper put the Hawks up 8 points with 9:18 minutes left.
Then DeShawn hit a three to put the Hawks up 32-21.
Daniel Gibson's shot and then argued a little too much to the refs, he was ejected, Hawks up 10 with 6:42 on the clock.
From Smoove to Devin for the layup.
Jeff's three put the Hawks back up 9 after the Cavs showed some life, 4:05 minutes left.
44-37 after Kyle's three with 2 minutes left.
Wayne Ellington hit a three but Jeff fed to Smoove under the bucket for an and-one play.
Smoove passed it to Ivan for the JAM!
Jeff dribbled down the clock then nailed a three!
Hawks up 52-44 at the half.
3rd Quarter
After Al's hook shot and Alonzo Gee's fadeaway jumper, the Hawks led by 7 points with 9 minutes on the clock.
Shaun Livingston drove to the bucket for the and-one play to bring the Hawks lead to five.
Gee hit a three and the lead was two with 8:15 minutes to go.
Hawks up 79-68 at the end of three.
4th Quarter
Ivan hit the fallaway jumper after being fouled for the and-one play. Hawks up 83-68, 11:12 minutes to go.
AT with a big offensive rebound but the Hawks could not convert and Omri Casspi knocked down a three, Hawks still up 83-75. 9:15 minutes left.
Smoove's J so smoooooth and the Hawks went up 8 with 7:20 minutes left.
Smoove and another jumper good to put the Hawks up 10 but only temporarily as Marreese Speights knocked down a jumpshot.
Speights the only hope for the Cavs hit a jumpshot to give himself 20 points but the Hawks still led by 18 points with 2:15 minutes on the clock.
Cavs trying to chip away at the lead bring it to a 6-point game with 43.4 seconds left.
Smoove knocked down his two FTs to put the Hawks up 101-93 with 42.9 seconds on the clock.
Hawks won 102-94!

3/30 Hawks VS Magic

Hawks went up 3 after a three-point play from Kyle and a shot from Smoove.
Johan's tip-in put the Hawks up one with less than 6 minutes on the clock.
Beno Udrih had 4 points early for the Magic and then Maurice Harkless' trip to the line resulted in three additional points.
Udrih was feeling it to hit a three to make the Hawks' deficit five.
Smoove's patience paid off as he drew the contact and still connected for the lay-up, his three-point play put the Hawks within 5 with less than 4 on the clock.
Ivan's two FTs brought the deficit to just three as the Magic called a timeout.
Ivan with the killer JAM and one! His three-point play put the Hawks within one with 2 minutes on the clock.
Nikola Vucevic muscled his way to the bucket and the Hawks were down four at the end of the first quarter.
2nd Quarter
Tolly with great defense to force the Magic miss.
Ivan yamming on folks left and right! Hawks within two.
Jeff drove to the bucket to score one and get fouled. His FT put the Hawks up one with 9:47 minutes left.
Kyle hit his three! 67 straight games!
Hawks up 2 with 6:49 minutes left as Devin was fouled while attempting a three.
Jeff with the pass to Smoove with the lay-up and the Hawks were up three.
Johan with the reverse dunk! Hawks up 4 with 4:50 on the clock as the Magic called a timeout.
Tobias Harris' two-point shot was taken away as it was a shot clock violation. Hawks up 6!
Magic went on a run but the Hawks still led by two with 3 minutes left.
Ivan and the one-handed reverse JAM!
Harkless stole the ball and put the Hawks at a two-point deficit but Ivan's trip to the line put them within one with less than a minute left.
Smoove with the offensive rebound and lay-up at the buzzer to put the Hawks up one at the half! Score at 45-44.
3rd Quarter
Jeff scored the first two points of the quarter to put the Hawks up 47-44 with 9:51 minutes on the clock.
Devin's three ball put the Hawks up 52-46 with 7 minutes left..
Ivan with the and-one play as he put the Hawks up 7.
Jeff with the chasedown block on Udrih, game tied at 55 with less than 4 minutes left until AT's three!
AT's three gave the Hawks a 6-point lead.

3/22 Hawks VS Blazers

Blazers, off to a hot start courtesy of J.J. Hickson and LaMarcus Aldridge, went up 6 points with 7:32 minutes on the clock.
Jeff hit a three and then Hickson slammed a reverse dunk which was answered by Smoove's jumper, Hawks within three.
DeShawn's three tied the game at 12 with 5:34 minutes left.
Smoove with the scoop pass to Al to lay it in, Hawks down three.
Ivan with the running JAM to bring it within one!
Aldridge, leading scorers with 9 points, hit both of his FTs to put the Blazers up three. 2:18 on the clock.

Damian Lillard with the reverse layup but Smoove was sent to the line to make both of his FTs. Hawks still led by three.

2nd Quarter
Great defense as Ivan blocked Meyers Leonard and then great ball movement as Dahntay found John to lay the ball in.
Al went up for the hook shot and was fouled by Hickson for the and-one play that put the Hawks up four points, 10:00 on the clock.
Johnny J stole the ball from Wesley Matthews then Al went up for the JAM. Hawks up 31-25 as Portland called a timeout with 8:23 minutes left.
Aldridge's putback dunk wasn't enough as the Hawks found Al on his classic jumper and the lead stayed at five.
Ivan knocked down a J to answer Eric Maynor's shot and then Devin's jumpshot gave the offense a spark.
Smoove's jumper kept the lead at five but Matthews' shot brought it to within three with 3:36 on the clock.

Jeff's assist to Al and Kyle's FT brought the Hawks within one.
Smoove hit both FTs to keep the Hawks within one with 6:31 minutes left.
And another foul sent Smoove to the line.

Hickson's missed FTs gave the Hawks some hope but they would need to drive and go up hard or help get the shooters open.

3/20 Hawks VS Bucks

Devin's two FTs opened up the scoring of the game.
Monta Ellis' layup had the Hawks down 3 with less than 9 minutes left but Smoove's jumper brought them right back in.
Smoove's great defense led to an ugly shot from the Bucks and Devin drove for the and-one play putting the Hawks up one.
Jeff and his teardrop floater was a thing of beauty.
A lot of contact in the paint as Jeff attempted the layup but Larry Sanders would finish at the other end to give the Bucks the lead.
Just as Devin was about to pass, he decided to shoot the trey ball for the Hawks to regain the lead by one point with 4:40 on the clock.
Great defense early from the Hawks as they were not letting the Bucks get easy buckets.
Al hit the fadeaway jumper, Hawks up 5 with 3:18 minutes left.

John Henson's put back dunk spurred a little offensive outburst for the Bucks but the Hawks' deficit was only at 5 with 9:04 minutes left.
Jeff's shot at the buzzer then Al's defense on Ekpe Udoh kept the Hawks in it.
Redick got hot with 9 early points, Hawks down 8 with less than 6 minutes on the clock.
Jeff's three gave the Hawks fans something to cheer about and brought the Hawks within five.
Kyle hit the three (61 game streak) and the Hawks were tied with Milwaukee with 35 points and 4:33 on the clock.
And Kyle's second three gave the Hawks a one point lead.
Al's jumper (assisted by Jeff) gave the Hawks the temporary lead until Samuel Dalembert's layup.

Sanders' layup brought the Bucks within single digits but Kyle's three gave the Hawks a 12-point lead.
Ellis hit a three but Al went up strong for the layup and then he hit his OG jumper, Hawks up 90-79 with 3:50 minutes left.

3/18 Hawks VS Mavs

Devin returned Mike James' opening three with a three of his own then came up with the steal for the driving layup.
Jeff to Smoove for the JAM and the Hawks led by 4 with 9 on the clock.
Jeff with a lot of energy to start and an impressive offensive rebound over the much taller Mavs big men.
Dirk Nowitzki and his patented jumper brought the score to 9 all with less than 7 minutes in the quarter.
Al finding his rythm to knock down two jumpers but OJ Mayo's three gave the Mavs a one-point advantage.
James knocked down yet another three to make the Hawks' deficit four points and then Chris Kaman's shot added two to that.
Jeff's drive to the bucket was needed as the Hawks slowed down on defense.
Vince Carter's three put the Hawks down 7.
Smoove found AT under the basket for the lay-in.
Smoove backing down Carter to score the and-one play, Hawks down four with 1:45 minutes left.
Smoove called for the foul on Elton Brand but he didn't complete his and-one play but a turnover led to a three from Darren Collison. Hawks down 9.
AT hit a three after great ball movement but Carter answered it.
Ivan went up strong for the SLAM! Hawks down 9 at the end of the quarter.
2nd Quarter
Ivan playing aggressively (like usual) got the foul call and hit one of two to start the quarter.
Anthony Morrow's first game back as a Mavs player and he hit his first bucket but that was answered by AT.
Devin with the foul on Collison for an and-one play, Hawks down 13.
AT for 333333 as the Hawks sought to find some offensive rhythm.
Morrow with the rebound and fadeaway jumper then Collison once again after a turnover, Hawks down 14 with 8:44 on the clock.
Devin drove to the hoop to bring the Hawks within 10.
Johnny with the drive but the Hawks finding it hard to slow down Collison. Hawks down 12 with 6:45 on the clock.
Jeff answered (another) Collison shot but Collison scored again! Hawks needing to slow him down, find themselves down 14 with less than 6 minutes left.
Mavs on a total and complete roll, Hawks not finding stops or buckets easily, down 19 with less than 5 minutes left but Kyle came in to ease the pain and hit a three (streak at 60 games!).
Then the Hawks came up with the rebound and the deficit was down to 14 points after Jeff's layup. Slowly chipping away!
Turnovers making the game a little on the unnattractive side but Smoove with the and-one play to bring the Hawks within 11 with less than 3 minutes on the clock.
Kyle's answer to Dirk's FTs was a jumper.
Dirk taking over the offense with 11 points and the Hawks were down 16 after Carter put it in.

3/15 Hawks VS Suns

A defensive three seconds call and jumpshot from Wesley Johnson started the game but Devin quickly answered with a drive to the bucket.
Smoove's floater brought the game to a tie, Goran Dragic hit a fadeaway J but Devin knocked down a three to give the Hawks a one-point lead.
Dragic making his presence known early with 6 points but Devin had 5.
Jermaine O'Neal with the step back jumper.
From Al to Smoove to lay it in over O'Neal then Devin took advantage of the turnnover and scored the and-one play to put the Hawks up four with 6:45 on the clock.

Dragic with the hook shot but Smoove answered with a jumper and the lead was still 6.

O'Neal keeping the Suns in the game with his 16 points but Smoove and his JAM maintained the Hawks' momentum.

Dragic and Teague with a battle of the guards competition, Jeff answered Dragic's three with a three-point play, Hawks up 96-78 and less than 6 minutes left.

3/13 Hawks VS Lakers

No Zaza, Jeff or Josh in this game due to injuries.
Dwight Howard dunked it but Al answered with an and-one JAM! Then Ivan scored on two possessions and the Hawks were up 1 with less than 7 on the clock.
Ivan had 6 points early, putting the Hawks up 3.
Kyle with the J and then came Jodie Meeks to tie it.
Antawn Jamison drove but Kyle hit a three to continue his streak (57 games) and put the Hawks up 1...and then there was Ron...for three.
Al steadily YAMMIN' all over the Lakers!!! Hawks down by 2 with 2:11 left.
Kyle going to the bucket for the layup, tied game with two minutes left.
Johnny hit a three then played great defense on Kobe to cause him to travel...then hit another three!
Hawks lead 26-19 at the end of the first.
2nd Quarter

Smoove with the drive to the basket but Tyreke Evans answered his two with a three, Hawks down 5.
Ivan and a quick pass to Kyle under the basket, Hawks down 6 with 5:20 min left.
Kings off to a strong start led by Demarcus Cousins' 7 points. Hawks down 9 with 4:24 left when Ivan went to the line.

Quick flagrant called on Zaza even though he went for the ball, 10:42 minutes left. Tied at 4.
Al hit the oh-so-Al jumper, he had four, Chalmers with 5.
Some ugly basketball being played and multiple turnovers led to a block from Al on LeBron. Another turnover led to a LeBron dunk for a tied game at 8 with less than 7 minutes left.

Kyle played good defense on Eric Gordon to allow for a SLAM by Smoove on the other end.
Jeff out to Tolly for the three and the Hawks were up three with 9:24 minutes left.

2/6 Hawks VS Grizzlies

Kyle connected for the first two of the game.
Tolly playing good defense but couldn't come up with the steal. Tayshaun Prince came up with an easy bucket. Then Smoove answered with a jumper.
Good start for both teams but Hawks up 1 with 8:33 minutes left.
Smoove with an impressive block on Z-Bo (Zach Randolph), ball knocked to Kyle.
Tony Allen connected after Prince's missed jumper. Hawks still up by 1.
10 all with 5:32 minutes left.
A lot of exchanging of buckets, not many defensive stops. 16 all with less than 4 minutes left.
Jeff hit a three and Marc Gasol answered with a reverse hook layup.
Then Tolly hit a three and the Hawks were leading 22-18 but Z-Bo hit a jumper to bring the Grizzlies within 2.
Smoove tipped in a missed layup from Johnny and the Hawks led by 4 with less than 2 minutes left.

Good rebound from Tolly but Jeff turned the ball over.

Grizzlies tried to fight back but the Hawks were just too much for them.

2/2 Hawks VS Bulls

Ugly start to the game as either team could not score. Then Taj Gibson went up for the basket and one as he was fouled by Al.
Smoove finally ended the scoring drought with a jumper but Rip Hamilton answered the bucket.
Kyle nailed a three and the score was tied but the Hawks' turnovers resulted in 7 quick points for the Bulls.
Smoove went from coast to coast to lay the ball in. Hawks were down 5 with 4 minutes left.
Then Al hit the hook shot and it was a three point game.
Johnny hit a shot to make up for the Jimmy Butler dunk.
Hawks found themselves down 24-17 after a huge (and quick) Ivan JAM at the end of the first.
2nd Quarter
Marquis Teague drove for the bucket, Hawks down 9.
Al cleaned up a missed drive by Pargo.
Al with two big blocks led to Ivan going up strong for the and-one play, Hawks down 4 with 9:13 left.
Ivan with big minutes and big contributions brought the Hawks within 4. He had 7 points and 5 rebounds with less than 8 minutes.

Jeff hit a jumper and the Hawks were down 4 with 4:15 minutes left.
Quarterback throw from Ivan to John who got fouled by Robinson. He split the FTs. Hawks within 4.
Rip taking over and gave the Bulls a push but Kyle answered with a three and the Hawks were down three with 2 minutes left.
Between Robinson and Gibson, Bulls found themselves up 7 with less than a minute left and then a bad shot from Ivan led to a Robinson layup. Hawks down 9.

Johnny hit the driving bucket. Hawks down 7.

Deng with 21 points after a three that put the Bulls up 14 with less than 6 minutes left.
Al got his own rebound and the Hawks were down 12 but Butler hit a three and Smoove answered with a three.
Kyle hit a three to slow the pain down some. Hawks within 12.
Bulls finding success inside the paint and on the perimeter, led 91-74 with 1:37 minutes left.
Tolly hit a jumper but Deng answered.
Hawks fall 93-76.

1/29 Hawks Vs Raptors

From Jeff to Al for the JAM after the Hawks and Raptors exchange baskets. Then Kyle Lowry answered with a three.
Even short a few players, the Raptors started off with a hard fought battle against the Hawks, leading by 2 with less than 8 minutes left. It was shortlived as Devin hit a three.
Allen Anderson knocked down a three of his own.
Smoove hit the fadeaway jumper.
Kyle then knocked down a three (39 consecutive games of hitting those) and the Hawks were up 3 with 5:05 on the clock.
Too much passing and the ball led to a turnover and dunk for DeMar DeRozan.

Good energy to start from the Hawks.

Hawks can't find a shot that likes them and Coach Drew calls a timeout at 6:14 with a score of 14-5.
Al pump fakes for the and-one play, Hawks down 6.
Zaza with the putback of Al's missed shot.
Brandon Bass attempted a dunk and failed horribly.
Rajon Rondo went up for the teardrop shot, Hawks down 8.
Devin got called for the foul and Jeff Green put the Celtics up 21-10 with 2 min left.

Josh got called for a technical foul after complaining about a foul call and the Celtics were up by 19.
2nd Quarter
John put some life back into the Hawks as he hit a jumper.
Hawks down 34-12 but Jeff knocked down a shot to bring the deficit to 20.
Jason Terry knocked down a three and the Hawks were down 39-14.
Jeff hit a three.
Al knocked down both freethrows and the Hawks were down 41-20.
Hawks put the necessary pressure on defense and started chipping away. Down 48-27 after a JAM from Al.
Kyle Korver stole the ball to pass to Jeff who was fouled by Pierce.
Jeff knocked down his freethrows but the Hawks still trailed by 20 after a dunk from Al.

Ivan muscled his way in for the layup.

Pierce hit a shot with less than five seconds left. Hawks down 73-69 at the end of the third.
Kyle heated up from three and a collective effort from all of the guys added to the spectacular comeback that would eventually tie the game once again.
The game then went into two overtimes where Jeff fouled out first but KG and Jared Sullinger were to follow.
By then, the Celtics offense had completely collapsed and their shots looked like the Hawks shots in the first half.

Devin made the first basket after the Hawks lose the tip and the Nets miss a FG. Hawks started the game with some intensity.
Devin and Al combine to bring the Hawks up 7-2 with less than 10 min left.
Brook Lopez got inside for the layup and Jeff was sent to the line by Keith Bogans on the other end of the court.
Devin with the bad pass to Jeff for the TO.
Jeff hit a three and the Hawks were up 7.
Double team on Joe sent the ball to D. Will for the miss. Jeff laid it in on the other end of the court.
Lopez is a big, big man which explains how he got inside so easily. Al rebounded and laid it in.

01/14 Hawks @ Bulls

-Apparently Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau gave his team a much needed & heated shake up this morning at shootaround. It looks like our team is in need of one also.
-The energy was completely missing from this game, especially in the second quarter when the Hawks only scored 5 points. We shot 2-for-21 and we had more turnovers and personal fouls than points during this quarter. The score at halftime was 48-20.
-In the first half, the Hawks only shot 20.5% and went 8-of-39.
-The biggest lead for the Bulls was 44 at one point in the game.
-Although the Bulls only shot at 41.8% for the night, they still managed to win the game by 39 points.
-Final Score: 97-58 Bulls. On Wednesday, we face former Hawk star Joe Johnson and the Brooklyn Nets.

01/12 Hawks @ Wizards

-Of course John Wall decides to make his season debut against us. He scored 14 points and 4 assists in his first game back.
-Here are the ugly stats: We shot 38.5% from the field and we attempted twenty-four 3-pointers. We only made 7 of those by the way.
-Before this game, we had won 18 of our previous 19 games against the Wizards. That streak was broken tonight and the first back-to-back winning streak for Washington was born.
-The Hawks came close to being within four points early in the 4th quarter but we couldn't quite close the gap thanks in part to a traveling violation.
-Washington led all throughout the second quarter and this was the 5th loss for Atlanta out of the last 6 games.
-Jeff Teague led the Hawks with 19 points. Al Horford finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Josh Smith had 11.
-Final Score: 93-83 Wizards. Unfortunately we'll have to dwell on this loss for a little while because we won't play again until Monday when we face the Bulls.

1/11 Jazz @ Hawks

Al Jefferson put up the first game bucket and then Randy Foye hit a three.
Devin made a three but the Hawks find themselves down four.
Smoove went to the basket strong and the Hawks were down three after an Al Jefferson jumper.
Al hit a hook shot to bring the Hawks within four and then a bad play by the Jazz led to a layup from Al.
Good defense from the hawks on three Jazz possessions.
Jeff with the steal for a SLAM.
Jazz being led by Jefferson and Foye and were up 25-18.
Jeff to Devin for the fast break brought the Hawks within three with less than 30 seconds left.
Jazz led 25-22 at the end of the first.
2nd Quarter
Zaza with the spin move to bring the Hawks within one.
Lou made it to the basket for the and-one. Tied at 29 with less than ten seconds left.
Ivan threw the ball off of a Jazz player then hit a jumper on the other end.
Paul Millsap drove to the hoop to tie it at 31.
Jazz up 40-37 with 4:31 left.
Lob from Smoove to Al for the SLAM. Hawks down four with less than a minute left.

3rd Quarter
Devin hit a three to slow the Jazz down and put the Hawks within 8 but Millsap dunks.
Jeff knocked down a three and the Hawks were within 7.
Hawks found themselves coming back with good defensive stops and drives.
Another Jazz turnover led to a dunk from Ivan.

4th Quarter
Zaza with the nice pass from Devin under the basket for the and-one play. Hawks within six.
Devin with the lob to Ivan for the JAM and the Hawks were down four.
Ivan drew a foul on Derrick Favors.

Devin got fouled at the arc and brought the Hawks within two.
A three from Jamaal Tinsely and the Jazz led by four with less than seven minutes left.
Devin picked some pockets then hit a three to tie it.
Jefferson knocked down a jumper and then dunked and the Jazz were up four.
Al grabbed the rebound then went up for the layup to tie it at 92.
Smoove hit the behind-the-back for the jumper and then Ivan with the big block.
Lou knocked down a three and the Hawks were up 101-95.
Al blocked Foye by the basket then Millsap committed a foul to put Devin at the line.
Devin with 24 points after knocking down two freethrows.

1/9 Hawks @ Cavaliers

-We settled for jump shots tonight and there's hardly ever a good thing. In fact, the Hawks only attempted FIVE free throws all night. They only made two. We haven't done that since we were the Tri-City Blackhawks in 1949/1950.
-The jump shots fell for Cleveland however. They hit seven 3-pointers in the first quarter and led for most of the first half. We tied things back up in the third quarter but a guy named Kyrie Irving decided to get hot and put his team back up with a comfortable lead.
-The Cavs came out and gave it their all as they too have been struggling lately AND they received some disappointing news about Anderson Varejao before the game. Their center will be having surgery to repair a muscle in his knee and will miss six to eight weeks. A win is exactly what they needed. Unfortunately, it came against the Hawks.
-Josh Smith led the team in scoring with 17 points. Jeff Teague added 15 and Al Horford followed behind with 14.
-Final Score: 99-83 Cavs. This is the 4th straight loss for the Hawks and the biggest losing streak we've had all season.

1/8 Hawks @ Timberwolves

-Prior to this game the Hawks held a team meeting in an attempt to re-focus after that not-so-great game against the Celtics. But the Hawks got off to a bad start in the first quarter against Minnesota and created a 10-point deficit early.
-Larry Drew described the team's performance as "soft" during the entire first half. Josh Smith wouldn't accept that label by saying that "soft" is not their style of play but instead they lacked energy. The Timberwolves led by 17 at one point and managed to hit eight 3-pointers against the Hawks despite being the worst 3-point shooting team in the league.
-J-Smoove and Al Horford both had double-doubles but the Hawks still ended up in the loss column. This was the first time all season that the Hawks have lost when these two have double-doubles.
-The Hawks were down by 14 at the beginning of the fourth but they came pretty close to tying the game by the end of it.
-Smoove had 21 and 13, Al finished with 19 and 11, and Lou Williams contributed 21 and 8.
-Final Score: 108-103 Timberwolves. The Hawks will try to end this 3-game losing skid against the Cavs tomorrow night.

1/5 Celtics @ Hawks

1st Quarter
- After a tough come-back loss against the Pistons in Detroit, the Hawks came back home to battle the Boston Celtics.
- Good and energetic start to the first quarter as the Hawks quickly go up 17-10 with 5:40 left, Lou has 13 points.
- Kyle answers Jason Terry's jumper with a three of his own.
- Zaza and DeShawn enter the game with less than 4 min left.
- Good defense from the Hawks allow the Hawks to go up 23-12.
- The return of Twin bka Jason Collins as he hits a layup.
- Smoove knocks down the jumper to put the Hawks up 9.
- Defensive pressure on the Celtics causes multiple turnovers.
- Jeff turns it up on the Celtics to hit the final two shots and put the Hawks up 31-18 at the end of the first quarter.
2nd Quarter
- Hawks start the quarter rocky after allowing a bucket and producing an offensive foul.
- Celtics slowly climbing up but the Hawks have too much fight.
- Zaza and KG tussle over the ball, Tolly drives to the hoop for an and-one play.

- Lou hits a wild looking three, falling over. It is answered by a Pierce jumper, Hawks up 15.
- Smoove with two big blocks on one Celtics possession, causing a shot clock violation then a JAM for Lou on the other end.
- Sloppy ball movement by the Hawks still results in a Jeff Teague three. Hawks lead 51-34 with less than 3 minutes left.

3rd Quarter
- Celtics come out of the half and make a quick four points.
- Ugly start out the break for the Hawks.
- Pierce makes a three and the Hawks lead 53-45.
- Multiple turnovers lead to Smoove at the line, he makes one of two.
- Celtics go on a run and the Hawks lead is cut to two.
- Kyle hits a three to silence some of the Celtics fans but no defensive rebound leads to a Pierce three.
- Lou hits a three.
- Rebounding helps the Celtics get the lead, 61-60 with less than 4 minutes left.
- Bass hits a jumper, then Pierce. Celtics up 5 with less than 2 minutes left.
- Hawks down 9 at the end of the third.

- Zaza goes up strong, hits both FTs after being fouled.
- Jeff pulls up for a floater, Haws within 7.
- Smoove jams it, Hawks down 9.
- Ivan comes in the game and grabs the rebound. He starts hustling. Hawks within 7.
- Ivan with the putback slam.
- Smoove hits a three and the Hawks are within 6.
- Hawks are down three with 45.1 seconds left.
- Hawks fall to the Celtics by 8 points. Lou scored a season high 28 points.

1/04 Hawks @ Detroit

-Let's just start with the second half of this one....At the half, the Hawks were down 56-31. In the first six minutes of the third quarter, the Hawks found their offense. They hit four 3-pointers made it a 10-point game.
-Even though things were sort of ugly, the Hawks hung in there. They went on a 16-0 run late in the fourth to bring themselves within 1.
-Two opportunities to win the game presented themselves to the Hawks in the final seconds of the game but unfortunately we couldn't capitalize on either one. One of those opportunities included what was originally thought to be an Al Horford 3-pointer. After review of the play however, Al's toe was shown on the line and the play was declared a 2-pointer instead.
-Josh Smith led the Hawks in scoring with 20 points while Al gave 18 points and 15 rebounds.
-Final Score: 85-84 Pistons. The Hawks will look to make up for this one when Boston comes to Philips tomorrow night!

01/01 Hawks @ New Orleans

-Four games in four cities in five nights? Zero problems for the Hawks.
-It looked like New Orleans was in control early as they held an 11-point lead over the Hawks late in the 1st quarter. In the final minutes of the quarter, the Hawks went on a 12-5 run to take a 4-point lead.
-The Hornets were up 50-44 at the half but by the end of the third quarter they were down 72-64 thanks to four turnovers and 6-of-16 shooting.
-The game became extremely close twice in the fourth quarter when the Hornets cut the lead down to 2 but the Hawks prevailed anyway and managed to pull out the impressive win.
-Josh Smith scored 23 points, 10 of those came in the all-important third quarter. Our frontcourt (Zaza, Al, and Smoove) combined for 55 points, 26 rebounds, and 10 assists.
-Kyle Korver was also a key factor tonight by scoring 14 points of his own.
-Final Score: 95-86 Hawks! Way to start off the new year right!

12/31 Hawks @ Houston

-The Hawks faced the Rockets tonight in Houston after handling the Indiana Pacers the other night.
-Last time the Hawks faced this team, James Harden and Jeremy Lin torched us. Unfortunately, they wanted seconds this time around especially after being defeated by both Oklahoma City and San Antonio before taking us on.
-Josh Smith was in action tonight but the team was still without the services of Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow.
-Houston's offense was red hot the entire night. They went on a 16-0 run in the second quarter and led 64-46 at halftime.
-After the half, there were a few times when it looked like the Hawks were going to take the lead back but they couldn't quite get over the hump despite going on an 18-8 run in the third and a 12-2 spurt in the fourth quarter.
-James Harden had 28 points. Carlos Delfino finished with a season-high 22 points which consisted of SIX three-pointers. If all of that wasn't enough, Jeremy Lin added 16 points to the mix.
-The leading scorer for the Hawks was Lou Williams with 21. J-Smoove scored 17 points to go along with his 7 rebounds. Horford had 18 points and 13 rebounds when it was all said and done.
-Final Score: 123- 104. Ouch. Good news: Hawks will be right back at it tomorrow night!

12/30 Hawks vs. Pacers

-Players who missed tonight's game due to injury: Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow, AND JOSH SMITH. J-Smoove, who didn't miss a game all last season. The same J-Smoove who is the leading scorer for the Hawks this season.
-The guys would have their work cut out for them against this tough Pacers team but at least we were at home! The Pacers struggle against us mightily when we play at Philips.
-The Hawks stepped up big time tonight. Zaza completely shut down Roy Hibbert, who went O-for-2. Our big guy scored a double-double consisting of 17 points and 14 rebounds.
-John Jenkins capitalized on some good playing time tonight also. He scored 10 points making this his first career double-digit game. He was 2-for-2 behind the arc and he shot 4-of-6 overall.
-David West was hot against us just like he was last time. He scored 29 points but he still couldn't lift his team up over the Hawks.
-Lou Williams finished with 21 points and a career-high 12 assists. This was also the first double-double of his career.
-Al Horford added 20 points to make this the fourth straight win for the Hawks.
-Final Score: 109-100 Hawks!

12/28 Hawks @ Cleveland

-Jeff Teague said that Coach Larry Drew pulled him aside before this one and challenged him to step up. Looks like Jeff took heed of the message.
-The Hawks led by as many as 11 points in the first quarter. In the second quarter however, Kyrie Irving led his squad back into the game. Together they cut the Hawks lead down to 1 at the half.
-Cleveland continued their momentum by scoring the first six points of the half, but the Hawks went on a 16-6 run to take the lead again.
-At the beginning of the fourth, Cleveland had a five point lead but the Hawks rallied back twice. The Hawks had an answer for every attack by the Cavaliers and they scored the last nine points.
-The Hawks squeezed a victory out of this one. Unfortunately, lots of injuries occurred in this game. First of all, Ivan Johnson and Assistant Coach Lester Conner both missed the game due to stomach illness. DeShawn Stevenson & Devin Harris sat out of this contest as well. Anthony Morrow strained his right hip in the second quarter and did not return. Josh Smith did not play in the fourth due to an aggravated hip flexor. Cleveland's Daniel Gibson also suffered a concussion in the first half.
-Jeff Teague scored a career-high 27 points. Lou Williams had 16 and Al finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
-Final Score: 102-94 Hawks!

12/26 Hawks vs. Pistons

-My goodness. What a game.
-There was plenty of good defense to be found in the first quarter. Our defense led to several Pistons turnovers which translated into more scoring opportunities for the Hawks.
-Josh Smith was electric throughout the entire game. He scored a quick 10 points in the first quarter alone.
-The Hawks played a little more sloppily in the second quarter and committed some turnovers of their own. They held on to their lead throughout the half though. At halftime, the score was 50-45 Hawks and Smoove had 21 points.
-The game opened up even more for the Hawks in the third quarter as they found themselves up by 20.
-But in the fourth quarter, the Pistons came roaring back. Next thing you know, we're all tied up and it's the end of regulation!
-It took two extra periods to put Will Bynum (31 points) and the Pistons away. Mind blowing stat of the night: Detroit had 85 points from the bench - an NBA single-game high this season.
-Josh Smith matched Bynum's 31 points and Al Horford contributed 22 for the night.
-Final Score: 126-119 2 OT. *phew*

12/22 Hawks vs. Bulls

-It was Teague vs. Teague in this anticipated match-up. This game would have been more exciting if Derrick Rose was available, but...it probably would have been more challenging also, so no complaints here.
-The Hawks looked to perform completely opposite of how they played in Philly - mission accomplished.
-It took a little while for the Hawks to get going. They went on a 25-6 run around the middle of the second quarter to put them ahead 53-37 by halftime. That pretty much sealed the game right there.
-The Bulls already looked exhausted before halftime and there wasn't much change from them afterwards. The Hawks built a 76-47 lead in the third.
-Lou Williams started for the Hawks for the first time tonight and scored 11 of his 16 points in the second quarter.
-Al Horford led the Hawks with 20 points and 10 rebounds. All other Hawks starters scored in double figures as well.
-Final Score: 91-75. Merry Christmas, Hawks fans!

12/21 Hawks @ 76ers

-Let's just say we struggled in this one. The Sixers held us to 39% shooting and led us by 22 at one point in the game.
-We did pull to within eight points in the third quarter thanks to former Sixer Lou Williams. But the Sixers came roaring back in the fourth quarter rather easily since we really didn't have anything going for us on offense. Al Horford only had 7 points by the end of this one.
-The rookies were able to get some PT though! John Jenkins scored 8 points while Mike Scott had 3 points and 2 rebounds.
-Josh Smith scored 17 points for the Hawks while Lou Williams finished with 13 against his former team. Kyle Korver logged in 11 points at the end of the night.
-Final Score: 99-80 Sixers.

12/19 Hawks vs. Thunder

-The Oklahoma City Thunder came into town determined to finally get back at the Hawks. We beat them on their home floor earlier this season and we beat them last March when they came on our turf.
-The momentum was definitely theirs as they came into Philips having won there last 11 games.
-Only two Thunder players reached double figures - you guessed it -- Durant and Westbrook. No other players on the Thunder roster *needed* to reach double figures.
-The Hawks led the game for the last time in the 1st quarter before the Thunder went on a 10-1 run. At the half, the Hawks were down by 14.
-While closing out the third quarter and heading into the fourth, the Hawks sparked an 11-0 run but Kevin Durant made sure the Hawks didn't get too close or too confident.
-Westbrook scored 21 points in the first half and KD scored 28 in the second half, including 18 in the fourth quarter.

12/18 Hawks @ Wizards

-The Hawks looked to bounce back and shake off the ugly loss against the Warriors by defeating the Wizards. Although it wasn't exactly a pretty win, they got it done regardless.
-The Hawks led through most of the first half and held a 52-46 lead at halftime. The Wizards made things more difficult in the second half. So much that this game had to go into overtime.
-Jordan Crawford showed out against his former team. He dropped 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists on us.
-The Hawks were able to establish a nice, little 5-point cushion with 1:30 to go in overtime. The Wizards came back from behind and made things interesting thanks in large part to Jordan Crawford.
-This game could have went either way tonight because it came right down to the wire but the Hawks were able to come out on top after Smoove blocked a jumper and Korver knocked down some free throws.
-Lou Williams lead all Hawks in scoring with 24 points, a season-high for him. Josh Smith came back from his poor performance against Golden State and chipped in 17 points and 13 rebounds. Korver and Teague added 16 and 13 points respectively.
-Final Score: 100-95 OT Hawks! Next up: the hot Oklahoma City Thunder will be in town. They've only won their last 11 straight......we're ready for the challenge though!

12/15 Hawks vs. Warriors

-This game was an anticipated match-up however the same cannot be said for the result.
-The Warriors came into Atlanta looking to complete a seven-game road trip against Eastern Conference teams. They claimed a victory against the mighty Miami Heat before coming into Philips.
-The Warriors looked anything but tired. Unfortunately, the Hawks looked the exact opposite.
-Both teams were tied at the end of the first, but the Warriors came out to play in the second quarter by outscoring the Hawks 36-23. Matt Barnes struck us with two 3-point daggers and we never held the lead again.
-It wasn't a good night for Smoove. He went 1-for-12 and finished with only 3 points. No Hawks starter logged more than 30 minutes and our backups played the entire fourth quarter.
-Teague had an off night as well. He went 3-for-11.
-Field percentage for the Hawks tonight? Brace yourself. A season-low 36.9%. Ouch.
-Final Score: 115-93 Warriors

12/13 Hawks vs. Bobcats

-The Hawks handed the Bobcats their 10th straight loss tonight. Everyone on the Hawks roster was able to join in on the thrashing.
-The Hawks turned on the gas early in the game by going on a 10-3 run. By the end of the first, the Hawks led 30-19. At halftime, the Hawks lead was up to 17 thanks in part to the Bobcats leaving Atlanta wide open for three pointers several times.
-The biggest lead of the night came early in third when the Hawks continued their impressive play. They went on a 6-0 run to drive the score up 78-50.
-The Bobcats did try to come back by going on a 10-0 run to cut the deficit down 78-60 but they were already in a hole too deep to get out of.
-Devin Harris led all Hawks with 20 while Ivan Johnson scored 16 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.
-Final Score: 113-90 Hawks!

12/12 Hawks @ Magic

-Remember when the Magic posed as a very strong threat against the Hawks? When we actually had a nasty rivalry with them? Boy, how times have changed. The Hawks have won their last 8 against the Magic.
-The Magic didn't exactly make things too difficult for us. They committed at least 15 turnovers for the fourth consecutive time. In addition, they only connected on 31-for-81 of their shots. The Hawks turned most of their turnovers into layups.
-Things did get a little interesting late when the Magic came within six but due to their previously mentioned turnovers, the Hawks remained in control.
-Kyle Korver returned to the team after taking some time off for the birth of his child as well as back spasms. He was 3-for-5 behind the arc and finished the game with 9 points overall.
-Smoove & Teague both scored 16 points. Smoove added 5 blocks to his point total and Teague added 3 steals to his. Al Horford had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
-Final Score: 86-80 Hawks!

12/10 Hawks @ Heat

-Jay-Z and Beyonce sat by the Hawks bench for this matchup so we hoped that their star power would somehow empower the Hawks but maybe the star power actually distracted the team..
-The Hawks lived by the 3-pointer in the first half. They made 7 total through the first three quarters. Smoove even went 4-for-4 from behind the arc. However, neither team led by more than 5 points during the entire first half.
-It was the third quarter that changed the game because Miami took off running. A Jeff Teague 3-pointer gave the Hawks a two-point lead but then the Heat went on a 17-4 run. They went from being down by two to being up by eleven. By the end of the run, the Heat were up 80-69.
-Wade and LeBron teamed up to hand the Hawks their second loss in eleven games. Wade had the best single-game shooting percentage of his career by shooting 11-for-13.
-Josh Smith finished with 22 points and Al Horford had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
-Final Score: 101-92 Heat

12/08 Hawks @ Grizzlies

-Everyone knew this would a good one because the Grizzlies had a 13-game win streak over Eastern Conf. teams heading into this one and the Hawks had won eight of their last nine games.
-Memphis was also 9-1 at home.
-The score remained close until the halfway point of the third quarter when Atlanta put the heat on and went on a 20-0 run.
-Memphis just couldn't overcome this deficit no matter how much the refs tried to let them back in....
-Twice in the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies came back within six but the Hawks wouldn't let them get any closer.
-Lou Williams went OFF in the fourth and scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half altogether.
-Jeff Teague had 13 points and 6 assists. Al Horford scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
-Josh Smith led all Hawks in scoring with 24 points.
-Final Score: 93-83 Hawks! Next up for the red hot Hawks are the Miami Heat

12/07 Hawks vs. Wizards

-This was yet another close one between the Hawks and the Wizards but the Hawks proved yet again that they know how to close out the tough ones.
-Both teams went back and forth with runs. It was a 20-13 run in the 4th that led the Hawks to victory.
-The Hawks were up by 18 in the previous quarter but the Wizards came back and cut the lead twice to just two points.
-Rebounds were a big asset in this game also as the Hawks held a 47-32 advantage on the boards.
-Defense has been huge for the Hawks thus far and it was big tonight. The Hawks limited the Wizards to 45.6% shooting.
-DeShawn Stevenson and Devin Harris both set season scoring highs with 15 points. In fact, DeShawn's points came from the five 3-pointers that he hit. Jeff Teague and Devin Harris both finished with 6 assists.
-Al Horford scored 14 pts and 14 rebounds while J-Smoove racked up 23 points to go along with his 15 boards.
-Final Score: 104-95 Hawks!

12/05 Hawks vs. Nuggets

-Tonight was Josh Smith's birthday and he played like it by helping the Hawks snap a four-game losing streak.
-The Hawks went with their big lineup during the first half which proved to be very successful. Zaza scored all 11 of his points in the second quarter.
-The momentum carried over into the third when the Hawks held their biggest lead (11 pts) after going on a 10-0 run.
_Heading into this game, the Hawks led the league in turnovers but it was the number of Denver turnovers that gave us the game. They had 20 total.
-Ty Lawson led Denver with a season-high 32 points and Corey Brewer scored 19. However, the mistakes by the Nuggets were too much to carry them over the Hawks.
-Al Horford had a double-double consisting of 25 points and 12 rebounds. Lou Williams scored 16 points along with the birthday boy who also added 13 rebounds.
-Final Score: 108-104 Hawks

12/01 Hawks vs. Cavaliers

-This one was extremely close but the Hawks ended up on the losing side when it was all said and done.
-Cleveland had a 4-point lead over the Hawks with a little less than three minutes to go in the first half when the Hawks went on an impressive 17-2 run during which Josh Smith made three consecutive baskets.
-Ivan Johnson made a jaw-dropping, buzzer-beating 3-pointer with 2 seconds on the clock before halftime. This was the third one of his career.
-The Hawks held on to the lead until the latter part of the fourth quarter. Jeremy Pargo, Anderson Varejao, and Deion Walters caused a lot of problems for us. Oh, and that Alonzo Gee guy.
-With 1:16 to go, Jeff Teague made a three-point play followed by a 3-pointer by Lou Williams to tie the game. With 1 second remaining in the game, Alonzo Gee rebounded a missed three-pointer by Walters and successfully went up for the tiebreaker. The Hawks didn't have the chance to get a quick shot. The clock had already run out.
-Josh Smith finished the game with 25 points. Jeff Teague and Al Horford tied for 15 points. Horford also had 11 rebounds. Lou Williams chipped in 18 points off the bench.
-Final Score: 113-111 Cavaliers. The Hawks will look for redemption against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

11/28 Hawks vs. Bobcats

-Coolest stats of the night: This was the sixth win in a row for the Hawks and the 7th straight time we've beat the Bobcats.
-Al Horford made a three-point play for us at the 7:11 mark of the third quarter to the put the Hawks up 52-51. After that play, we held control of the rest of the game.
-Smoove scored most of the points for the Hawks in the third. He finished with 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
-The Bobcats made a valiant surge in the fourth quarter led by Ben Gordon who scored 20 of his 26 points. Gordon made a 3-pointer with 29.1 seconds left to cut the Atlanta lead to 1. However, the Bobcats made a crucial turnover when the ball went out of bounds on an inbound pass with only 5.2 seconds to go.
-Charlotte fouled Al Horford with 4.1 seconds remaining. He sealed the win by knocking down two free throws despite struggling at the line recently.
-The Hawks scored 17 points off of 17 Charlotte turnovers - yikes!

11/24 Hawks vs. clippers

-The Clippers came into this one trying to avoid a season-high third straight loss. The Hawks couldn't have cared less because they were looking to get a season-best fifth straight win.
-In the second quarter, the Hawks put their foot on the gas and they never really took the foot completely off - they did tap the brakes a few times, however
-The Hawks outscored LA 18-4 in the third quarter after their lead was cut to only eight points. The lead went up to 22 points by the 4-minute mark of that same quarter.
-Blake Griffin was a monster tonight with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Former Hawk Jamal Crawford stood out tonight as well by recording the 33rd 4-point play of his career. Neither of these guys could contain the Hawks tonight though.
-Zaza Pachulia continued his dominance by scoring 19 points. Yes, you read that right. 19 points and 12 rebounds.
-Teague had 19 points also and paired it with 11 assists making this his first consecutive double-double in his career.
-Lou Williams and Josh Smith finished with 18 points and 17 points respectively.
-Final Score: 104-93. Now the Hawks enjoy a nice little break before facing the Bobcats again on Wednesday.

11/23 Hawks @ Bobcats

-According to Al Horford, this was one of our best games all season.
-We led for most of the game. The closest call came in the fourth when the Bobcats came within six but the Hawks kept them from doing any more damage against us.
-Both teams played rather sloppy: Charlotte committed 15 turnovers that translated into 19 points for the Hawks while we turned the ball over more than 22 times and created 22 extra points for Charlotte.
-The star of the night was definitely Horford whom the Bobcats had trouble guarding - they used four different guys - but he was 13 of 17 from the field anyway. Al finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
-Kyle Korver hit 4 out of 6 three-pointers to end the night with 16 points. Jeff Teague had 13 points and 12 assists of his own for a second consecutive double-double of the season.
-Final Score: 101-91 Hawks! We take on the mighty LA Clippers tomorrow night.

11/21 Hawks vs. Wizards

-Wow. 10 lead changes throughout the first half, 20 overall.
-There's always that fear that your team will be the first to lose against the win-less team in the league. That fear was alive and well tonight because the Wizards wouldn't go away. Would you believe the game went into overtime?
-With under a minute left in overtime, the Wizards led by four but the Hawks were able to tie the game with 20 seconds remaining. So then the Wizards go back up by one point. Kyle Korver successfully launches a 30 ft. 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds on the clock.
-Washington's Martell Webster tips in a missed hook shot. Game over. Washington wins.
-But wait.The buzzer went off a tenth of a second before the tip-in. Just kidding, Hawks win!
-Josh Smith led the Hawks with 25 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out in overtime. Al Horford had 15 points, 10 assists (career-high), and 9 rebounds. Kyle Korver had 16 points including 5 three-pointers and Devin Harris finished with 13 points.
-Final Score: 101-100 OT Hawks

11/19 Hawks vs. Orlando

-The Magic have only won 3 games so far this season and that still stands thanks to the Hawks.
-After the first quarter, the Magic led by a mere basket which was still a high point because they've trailed after the first 12 minutes in seven of their first nine games. But that bright spot was quickly dimmed as the Hawks ran away with this one (as expected).
-Glen Davis was the lone player to score in double digits for the Magic.
-It wasn't exactly easy for the Hawks though. The team was noticeably still tired from their west coast trip.
-At the half, the Hawks were up 41-37 and went on a 22-8 run in the third quarter. The score was 74-50 with just under ten minutes left in the game when the Magic came running back to make things interesting (and more difficult). With three minutes left, the Magic cut the lead from 18 to 12 and then pulled within nine at the minute and a half mark.
-In spite of the fact that the Hawks almost completely squandered 24-point lead, they still managed to win the game. An ugly win is still a win.
-Horford scored 15 points and 9 rebounds, Zaza added 11 rebounds to go along with his 8 points, and Teague contributed 9 points and 7 assists. Lou Williams gave the Hawks 14 points off the bench.
-Final Score: 81-72. We've got Washington the day before Thanksgiving and Charlotte immediately after the holiday. GO HAWKS!

11/16: hawks @ Sacramento

-This was the final game of a crazy west coast road trip that included trips to Alcatraz and a vicious stomach flu that plagued the team. Al Horford fought off a case of sluggishness after watching the last game from his bed back at the hotel. He finished with a double-double: 20 points and 10 rebounds.
-In both the first and third quarters, the Hawks outscored the Kings by 14 points. They let a huge second quarter lead go away but they came out strong in the third by outscoring the Kings 28-14. This rally in the third quarter was led in large part by Kyle Korver.
-Heading into the fourth, the Hawks led 86-70 and led by at least 11 points for the remainder of the game.
-Several Hawks had dynamic performances tonight. Teague had 15 points, Smoove finished with 19 pts, 8 rebs, and 6 assists, and Lou Williams scored 21 points.
-The main story of the night was Kyle Korever, however. He had 22 points, 7 rebounds, and a two-handed breakaway dunk. It should be noted that he went 5-for-5 from the arc.
-Hawks are headed back home for a pretty nice homestand after going 2-2 on this road trip.
-Final Score: 112-96 Hawks

11/14: Hawks @ Warriors

-The Hawks were without Al Horford and Devin Harris tonight due to the awful stomach illness that seems to be going around on this west coast trip. However, there are no excuses in professional sports so the the Hawks rolled with the punches anyway. Zaza Pachulia filled in for Horford at center and ended up leaving the game during the first quarter because of a cut right above his right eye. The tough guy got stitched up and resumed play later in the game.
-Both teams competed equally against each other in the first but the Warriors opened up a 7-point lead right before halftime.
-At the start of the third quarter, the Hawks went on a 7-1 run. The momentum was stalled when Ivan Johnson accidentally elbowed Golden State's Draymond Green in the face. Green stayed down for a while and then went back to the locker room for X-rays which turned out negative. Green did return in the game.
-Harrison Barnes went off in the late third and early fourth quarter to put his team ahead. He sparked an 18-7 run and put the Warriors up 73-60 at the top of the final quarter.
-The Hawks came running back but it was just a little bit too late. Lou Williams hit three consecutive 3-pointers to slice the Warriors' lead to one basket with about 10 seconds left in the game. Jarrett Jack was fouled on the next play and knocked down both of his free throws to seal the win for his squad.
-Lou Williams finished with 18 points while J-Smoove scored 16 points and 10 rebounds.
-Final Score: 92-88 Warriors

11/12 Hawks @ Trailblazers

-There was uncertainty about whether or not J-Smoove and Lou Williams would play in tonight's game due to both of them having a stomach illness. At game time though, both guys were suited up and ready to play.
-The first quarter was all Hawks everything. They got every shot they wanted and ran up a good lead over the Trailblazers early.
-In the second quarter, the Trailblazers gained a little momentum, but the Hawks stayed afloat and kept them at arm's length.
-The success of the first half was due to J-Smoove attacking the rims and Kyle Korver knocking down a few 3-pointers. The Hawks led 56-47 going into the third quarter.
-It looked as if the Hawks lost control of the game when the Trailblazers went on a 15-2 in the fourth quarter. This was the second of the Hawks' first back-to-back this season, but the team fought back and tied up the game with a little over two minutes remaining. Thanks to solid plays by Horford, Teague, and Korver, the Hawks pulled away with an 8-0 run and came up with the victory.
-Kyle Korver finished with 16 points while Horford contributed 15 of his own with 10 rebounds. As for the two players who were battling a stomach illness? Well, Josh Smith had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Lou Williams chipped in 11 points.
-Final Score: 95-87 Atlanta

11/9 Hawks vs. Heat

-Tonight was full of surprises as we found out that Dwyane Wade would not participate in tonight's contest due to a cold and that Atlanta rapper T.I. would join Bob Rathbun and Duane Ferrell in tonight's broadcast to provide color commentary.
-The Heat didn't miss a beat without DWade, thanks to LeBron, Chris Bosh, and Ray Allen. The trio scored 21, 24, and 17 points respectively.
-Josh Smith struggled in this game. He only scored 8 points and had the chance to make two game-tying free throws with 1:05 remaining but he just couldn't put it together tonight. He was 6 of 19 from the field.
-Jeff Teague was a bright spot for the team as he finished with 20 points and 11 assists.
-This game was actually very close all throughout and the Hawks were in great position to win. Both teams were tied at 25 after the first quarter and the Hawks led by four at the half . After the third quarter, the Heat only led by one. However, in the fourth quarter, the Heat greatly hindered the Hawks defensively and went on a 20-2 run. The Heat gave us several chances to close this one out down the stretch but sealed the win anyway.
-Final Score: 95-89 Heat. Next up are the LA Clippers on Sunday at 3:00.

11/7 Hawks vs. Pacers

-Josh Smith re-joined the team after missing the last one with an ankle sprain. He said that he felt good while being on the court because his adrenaline kept him from feeling the pain. It was obvious that he had some serious adrenaline going on because he dominated the first half of the game.
-Things remained relatively close between both teams until the latter part of the third quarter when everything started going downhill for the Hawks. We stopped finishing at the rim, we turned the ball over, our defense was weak, and the momentum swung heavily in Indiana's favor. George Hill took over the quarter for the Pacers and made it tough for Atlanta to catch a break. George Hill and David West would combine for 38 points by the end of the night.
-But the fourth quarter was a completely different story. The Hawks came back and took what belonged to them. Kyle Korver knocked down 3-pointer after 3-pointer (he scored eight straight points) and Teague was driving easy through the lane. The team went on a 18-0 run and displayed the utmost confidence and calmness in the final minute of the game despite not officially sealing the win until the final seconds. The amazing thing is that the Pacers had a 83-69 lead with a little over six minutes to go in the fourth.
-Spectacular comeback by the home team. They held the Pacers to only 9 points in the final quarter while scoring 24 of their own. Tonight marked the 10th straight loss for the Pacers in Philips Arena.
-Horford had 16 points and 9 assists while Teague finished with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. How about Zaza Pachulia with 14 rebounds?!
-Final Score: 89-86 Hawks! We'll face the defending champs this Friday at 7:00 p.m. Bring it on!

11/4 Hawks @ Thunder

-It was announced early in the day that Josh Smith would not be available during tonight's game due to a right ankle sprain. With that in mind, it was extremely important for the Hawks to come out and attack early against the Thunder who led the league in turnovers last year.
-The Hawks did just that by banding together and leading the Thunder at the end of the first up until the final minute of the half when Kevin Martin decided to give his best "James Harden impersonation" as Bob Rathbun put so eloquently. Thunder led 51-47 at halftime with K-Mart being responsible for 22 of their points.
-Zaza Pachulia and Ivan Johnson did what they do best and caused problems early for the Thunder. Jeff Teague and Al Horford stepped up and played hard tonight in the absence of J-Smoove as well.
-The third quarter featured more of Jeff Teague wreaking havoc and rattling the rims, including an electrifying dunk over Kevin Durant, but both teams continued to battle each other consistently. It wasn't until the fourth quarter when the Hawks were able to pull ahead of the Thunder yet again.
-Thanks to a huge 3-pointer by DeShawn Stevenson with about 1:30 left in the game, the Hawks were able to seal the win against the Thunder.
-Final Score: 104-95 Hawks. It was stressed before the game that Horford needed to step up tonight. Well he finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Lou Williams played on fire in the fourth and scored 14 points. He ended up having 19 points and 4 assists total.

11/2 Season opener vs. Rockets

-A sold out crowd was on hand at Philips to welcome the return of Hawks basketball
-The starting lineup for the night was Devin Harris, Jeff Teague, Josh Smith, Kyle Korver, and Al Horford.
-Defense was the biggest problem for the team tonight. The Rockets turned the ball over more than the Hawks, 21 times to be exact, yet they still had more rebounds than us (58 to our 36).
-The Rockets led after each of the first three quarters until the Hawks came back and made things interesting the fourth by taking the lead with a little over seven minutes remaining in the game.
-The biggest story of the night? Odds are you've already heard it. James Harden. 45 points - a career high. This was his second time scoring over 30 points with his new team.

    •    Then Marv knocks down a TRE ball and Hawks are only down 2 with 7:02 left.
    •    Joe hits a TRE ball to put the Hawks within 5 after an offensive outburst from the Celtics with 1 min left.
    •    Joe knocks down another TRE!
    •    Rondo hits a jumper to give the Celtics a 4 point lead at the end of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
    •    Al's jumper in the beginning of the quarter makes it a two point game.
    •    A Hawks turnover turns into a KG jumper, Celtics up 6 with under 10 min left.
    •    Hawks not getting shots to fall (and getting few calls) trail by 9 with 7:11 min left.
    •    Jeff with the steal and lays it in to bring the Hawks within 7.
    •    Smoove takes advantage of a turnover and gets fouled going up for the bucket.
    •    Al brings the Hawks within three as he spins to the basket.
    •    Good defense and then Al with the lob from Smoove brings down the house and brings the Hawks within one with 3:52 left.
    •    Smove with the two-handed jam puts the Hawks up one for their first lead in the second half.
    •    Al with the tough shot off the glass!
    •    Hawks down two with 9.3 seconds left...
    •    A foul is called on Daniels before the ball is inbounded.
    •    3.1 seconds and the Hawks inbound to Al who gets fouled by Marquis Daniels.
    •    I'll let this ESPN article tell what happened there...the Hawks would fall by three points after Al split two free throws from another foul call on Daniels and they were forced to foul on the other end. Al had a tremendous game with 15 points and 9 rebounds, Smoove as well with 18 and 9. Marv added 16 and 8 while Joe had 17.
We LOVE our Atlanta Hawks! They put up a fight and we appreciate that. It was a great season, and we're excited about what is to come.

05/08: Hawks vs. Celtics (Game 5)

-Possible elimination game. Can't just talk about it anymore, if we want to advance...we have to go out there and do it. The starters for tonight: Teague, Johnson, Williams, Smith and Horford.
-For the majority of the first half, it remained close...the C's tried to gain some momentum halfway through the second but the Hawks started to feel it right before halftime. Teague, Marvin, Joe, Josh, and Al were all beginning to simmer but at the half, the score remained tied due to a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Rajon Rondo (of course).
-After the half, the Hawks kept things going and started to gain control of the game. Before things could get out of hand though, the Celtics would come back and keep things close again.
-At the end of the fourth, right when the Hawks were getting ready to seal a win, the Celtics came running back. Thanks to some costly turnovers and some fantastic composure by the Hawks, the Hawks pulled this one out.
-The victory came on a (fun-to-watch) turnover by Rondo. Smoove knocked away the ball and when time ran out, Smoove grabbed the ball and collapsed on the scorers table in relief. Bizarre ending, but we'll take it! The Hawks live to see another game!
-Al Horford was absolutely fantastic tonight. He ended up playing 40 minutes, which was certainly not the game plan. Smoove should not be overlooked either. He was definitely playing with a sore knee but he still managed to contribute 13 points and an incredible 16 rebounds. As for Horford, well he finished with 19 points and 3 steals to go along with 3 blocks.
-Final Score: 87-86 Hawks! Don't ever say this team doesn't have heart.

05/06: Hawks vs. Celtics (Game 4)

-The Hawks looked to regain home court advantage tonight by tying the series back up in Boston. Al Horford and Josh Smith decided to grace us with their presence in tonight's game.
-Joe Johnson knocked down a few shots early which made us all feel good but the C's started knocking in shots also. And more shots. And more shots after those.
-Pretty soon the Hawks found themselves in a hole...while being only halfway through the second quarter. Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo continue to give the Hawks problems. At the half, the Hawks were down by 22 points.
-It didn't get any better from there, folks. Pierce continued to let the Hawks have it and Rondo joined in on the fun. It seemed like the game was never going to end.
-Bob Rathbun said it best with "We are pleased to announce that the score will go back to 0-0 at the start of Game 5."
-It was that kind of night.
-Josh Smith led all Hawks with 15 points and 13 rebounds and Al Horford finished with 12 points. Joe Johnson only had 9 for the night.
-Final Score: 101-79 Celtics. The Hawks are now down 3-1 in the series and will fight to keep their postseason alive on Tuesday night.

05/04: Hawks vs. Celtics (Game 3)

-Already without Al Horford, Josh Smith and Zaza Pachulia, the Hawks were looking for a break anywhere they could find it. When Tracy McGrady rolled his ankle in the first half, all Hawk nation could do was let out a collective sigh. This has been such an ugly playoff season for the NBA in terms of injuries and it looked like this would be yet another one for the Hawks.
-Much to our liking, T-Mac came back out the locker room after halftime looking loose and ready to go. He scored 12 points which was his highest total since 2008 when he scored 40 for Houston. However, ten of those paints came in the first half.
-Rajon Rondo came back for the Celtics after serving his one-game suspension. He recorded his seventh playoff triple-double. Ray Allen returned for them as well and scored 13 points.
-The C's went on a hot streak halfway through the fourth to give themselves a double-digit lead but the Hawks rallied back on an 8-0 run and tied things up to head into overtime.
-Joe Johnson had 29 points and Jeff Teague stepped up in the absence of Smoove by scoring 23 points of his own. Marvin Williams had 11 rebounds.
-Final Score: 90-84 Celtics. The C's go up 2-1 in the series.
-In overtime, the Hawks went cold as the C's outscored them 10-4.

05/01: hAWKS VS. cELTICS (gAME 2)

-For the first half of this one, neither team had a clear advantage over the other. The C's were without Ray Allen (injury) and Rajon Rondo (suspension) but they had Paul Pierce.
-In the third quarter, the Hawks developed a lead of 11 points before the Celtics got hot and put out the Hawks' flame.
-Paul Pierce single-handedly outscored the Hawks 18-15 from that point on.
-In the fourth quarter, the Hawks lost J-Smoove which left them without the services of any of their big men. Smoove went to the locker room with a sprained knee. When Smoove left the game, the wheels fell off and the Celtics went into full attack mode.
-Jason Collins fouled out with 8 minutes remaining in the game.
-The Celtics, with the help of Mickael Pietrus, limited Joe Johnson to four shots for the final quarter. Of those four shots, Joe only made one.
-Josh Smith finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Joe Johnson contributed 22 points of his own.
-Final Score: 87-80 Celtics. The series is now 1-1. Off to Boston, we go!

04/29: Hawks vs. Celtics (Game 1)

-So we meet again, Boston Celtics. You had us in 2008. You thrashed us on your home court unmercifully. This time we're striking blood first. We've grown alot since then.
-To say that the Hawks dominated the entire first half, let alone the first quarter, would be an understatement. The Hawks had the C's stumbling and fumbling.
-Smoove, especially, was in attack mode. He scored a double-double in the first two quarters.
- The energy that our team brought tonight was insane and it had Philips Arena rockin'.
-KG struggled early from the start. Well, most of the Celtics, really. Rajon Rondo was Rajon Rondo - he was pretty much the solid rock for the C's.
-The pace of the game was incredibly fast during the first quarter which worked greatly for the Hawks but things slowed down considerably in the second which allowed the Celtics to get back into (just a little). The Hawks led 49-35 at the half.

-The third quarter started off rather sloppily for both teams before the Celtics tried to make a run. The Hawks held them off though and maintained the lead into the fourth.
-It was during the fourth quarter that the Celtics made a serious run and put themselves in great position to take control of the game. The C's came within four points when Rajon Rondo lost his cool and caused the Celtics to lose the game as a result. He bumped an official with his chest after receiving a technical foul. More than likely, he'll be suspended for the next game. Bad news for the C's.
-Smoove stepped up big time with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Teague showed out with 15 and 6 of his own. Kirk Hinrich had a great game as well as he finished with 12 points.
-Final Score: 83-74 Hawks! Game 2 on Tuesday!

04/26: Hawks vs. Mavs

-The Hawks reaaallyy needed this one in order to clinch the #4 seed and have home court advantage against the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.
-Our guys made sure to focus on the task at hand and it showed as they created a 31-11 lead in the first quarter. Here's a crazy stat for you: Early on, both teams were tied at six. The Hawks went on a 25-5 run shortly after. During this run, Josh Smith scored 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Yet...he's supposedly not an All-Star. Okay, NBA.
-At the half, the Hawks led 60-44. The Mavs tried to come back early in the third quarter but the Hawks smothered any chances of that happening.
-This one was all Hawks - all game long. The Hawks were on a mission and it showed.
-Jeff Teague had 17 points, Joe Johnson finished with 15 and Kirk Hinrich chipped in 12. Smoove contributed 9 points and 7 assists to go along with his 23 points.
-Final Score: 106-89 Hawks! BRING ON BOSTON!

04/24: Hawks vs. Clippers

-The Clippers were trying to gain the Pacific division title while the Hawks were still trying to clinch the #4 seed for Home Court Advantage. This was a competitive one.
-In the first quarter, Blake Griffin went off for 16 points to put the Clippers up 28-25. By the end of the night, Griffin would score a season-high 36 points. In the second quarter it was all Hawks bench. At the half, the Hawks were up 52-50.
-The two teams went back and forth in the third quarter and tied things up at 70 before the Hawks went on a 15-2 run with 3:00 left before the final quarter.
-But the Clippers wouldn't lie down. They pushed to get back within 4 points only 1:03 to go in the game. Here's where the magic happened.
-After losing some time off the clock to missed opportunities, Jeff Teague missed a layup. The ball was knocked past the 3-point arc where Joe Johnson grabbed it. Johnson lost track of time, not realizing that Teague's shot didn't hit rim. Joe dribbles up court on the side opposite of the Hawks bench. T-Mac begins yelling at Joe to shoot it. Joe heaves it up awkwardly with the goal of hitting the rim. Instead, he accidentally banked it in. At this point, the Hawks led 103-96 with 37.8 seconds remaining. The Clippers never pulled within 6 points from that point on.
-Joe Johnson had 28 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Teague had 21 and Smoove with 18 pts, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.
-Final Score: 109-102 Hawks! Regular season finale on Thurs!

04/22 Hawks VS. Knicks

1st Quarter
·      The Knicks won the tip and Amar’e went up for a layup and got fouled for a three point play.
·      Jeff stole the ball and went down the court for the JAM.
·      Kirk knocked down the TRE ball!
·      Jeff picked Baron’s pocket and got fouled by Baron. Hawks up 4 with 10:01 min left.
·      Joe hit the fadeaway floater.
·      Melo took it to the hoop and the Hawks lead was broken down to 3.
·      Marv with the TRE ball.
·      Marv then hit another tre! 16-11 with 7min left.
·      Marvin continued to score in threes with an and-one play after a drive.
·      Jeff knocked down a threeeeeeee.
·      Baskets kept getting exchanged until Landry stole the ball for a layup.
·      Everyone was knocking down shots…on both teams. Not seeing much defense except for the few steals.
·      After a few shots by Melo and Baron and a few missed by the Hawks, it was all tied up with 3 min left.
·      Ivan took a charge from Melo that was critical. Then Joe hit down a far TRE ball.
·      Marv with the super block!
·      All tied up at 31 at the end of the quarter.
2nd Quarter
·      Pargo knocked down a TRE ball. Hawks up 2 with 10:30 min left.
·      Amar’e then got the three point play.
·      Nice ball movement off of a potential turnover, then Marv stole the ball for the setup of a Pargo TRE ball.
·      Bibby with the turnover and Ivan got fouled at the end.
·      The Hawks 2nd unit playing both ends of the court strong.
·      Willie drove to the basket and knocks down the layup. Hawks up 43-36 with 8:30 min left.
·      Ivan was going hard on the boards and drawing fouls.
·      Pargo kept hitting from behind the arc. Hawks up 5 with 6:19 min left.
·      Novak was the Knicks’ hope as he hit down a three.
·      Joe shooting over Novak, just disrespectful…sorry, Novak.
·      Hawks and Knicks exchanging buckets, Hawks lead still at 2 until Marv hit the J.
·      As both teams found themselves driving to the basket more, more appearances at the line. Joe missed both FTs, unfortunately. Hawks lead back at 2 with 3:30 left until Landry’s layup.
·      Marv missed his jumper and then aggressively sought the rebound to get to the line, making both FTs.
·      Jeff with a major block on Shumpert and then the fast break where Marv cleaned up Smoove’s miss.
·      Melo pulled up for a tough jumper to put the Knicks up 1 with 2 min left.
·      Smoove with the TRE ball!
·      Jeff drove to the basket and the Hawks were up 6 with less than a minute.
·      Knicks got a quick and-one play and the Hawks lead was cut to three.
·      Joe with the difficult drive to the basket. Hawks end the first half up 65-60.
3rd Quarter
·      Turnover after ugly turnover for both teams and tied game at 66 with 9:30 min left.
·      Knicks started knocking down shots from beyond the arc and they were up 72-66 but Jeff drove to the basket to bring the Hawks within 4.
·      Knicks turnovers and the Hawks were tied but Landry stayed hot behind the arc.
·      Joe knocked down the TRE ball and Hawks were up 2, then Smoove blocked the shot and then sent the ball to Jeff for the and-one play.
·      Things got a little heated when Melo had words for Jeff.
·      Smoove took Landry on a dancing lesson and SLAMMED it over him and got the foul.
·      Competitive plays got the Knicks to within three to finish the quarter.
4th Quarter
·      Marv’s TRE ball put the Hawks back within two after a Knicks run that had them up 5.
·      Then Pargo hit a TREEEEEEEEE ball to put the Hawks up one with 9:51 min left.
·      Game got intense when Pargo and Amar’e almost got into it.
·      Hawks were up 2 with 8:15 min left and then Willie hit ‘em up, TRE style.
·      Knicks up one, then Hawks turn the ball over and Baron hit a three.
·      Marv hit a TRE ball and Hawks were within 2 points.
·      Marv tied it up with a jumper! The game was going down to the wire.
·      Joe hit a TRE ball for the lead!
·      Melo went up and got the and-one play.
·      Joe knocked down a TRE ball with a defender in his face, then Melo knocked a shot down, too.
·      We were unfortunately left with the last play of the game...and it wasn't pretty. Marv drove to the basket for a much contested dunk that he ended up missing and the Hawks would lose by one to the Knicks.
·      Final Score: Hawks lose, 113-112. Marv played an EXCEPTIONAL game with 29 points and 11 boards. Jeff and Joe added 23 and 22 points respectively. Rebounding was very crucial in this game, for both sides.

04/20: Hawks vs. Celtics

-This was the last regular season showdown between the Hawks and the Celtics who will face each other in the playoffs. The Hawks sought to capture this victory in order to keep their hopes of earning home-court advantage over the Celtics alive.
-In the last two battles between these two, the Celtics came out on top. The last match-up was a very close loss at home. It was clear that the Hawks had revenge on their mind.
-The Celtics were without Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Mickael Pietrus, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.
-The C's hardly played any defense during the first quarter as the Hawks went up 58-49. Their defense may have been lacking but their energy certainly was not.
-The Celtics came within one point 5 times during the fourth quarter but the Hawks held on.
-Joe Johnson led everyone in scoring with 30 points. J-Smoove finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
-The Hawks weren't happy with the way they closed out this game but they got the W nonetheless.
-Final Score: 97-92 Hawks!

04/18: Hawks vs. Pistons

-The Hawks put a beating on the Pistons right from tip-off. Allow me to present you with the score at the end of each quarter:
Q1: 39-20
Q2: 72-42
Q3: 96-61
Q4: 116-84
-What else is there to say, really?
-The starters were able to get plenty of rest as the Hawks built a 37-point lead in the first half. The starters were able to sit on the bench during the second quarter as the bench players came in and took the game up a notch. Every available Hawks player was on the score sheet by halftime!
-Eventually the game turned into a dunk contest. Pargo had 3 dunks in the second quarter alone.
-The starters were laughing and having a good time on the bench while the bench players were on the court playing like the Harlem Globetrotters.
-Tracy McGrady led six Hawks in double figures with a season-high 17 points. Ivan Johnson scored 16 points, Joe Johnson had 13 Josh Smith added in 12 of his own, while Marvin and Willie tied for 10 points. Pargo finished with 9 points and 8 assists.
-The Hawks had a lot of fun with this one. These are the kind of games a team wants to have before heading into the playoffs.
-Final Score: 116-84 Hawks. At the end of the game Jason Collins was quoted as saying: "That was a lot of fun." Indeed, Twin.

04/16: Hawks @ Toronto

-After losing to the Raptors in a very ugly fashion last night, the theme of tonight's game was obviously redemption.
_The Hawks held a mere 3-point lead at the half but they were able to finally break away in the third quarter and outscore the Raptors 25-17.
-They didn't let up as they went up by 24 in the fourth to really seal the deal and make last night's ugly loss a faint memory.
-While the Raptors still outscored the Hawks in the paint considerably (50-38), the Hawks made up for it in other areas. The Hawks led the Raptors 28-5 in fastbreak points.
Jeff Teague and Joe Johnson were both cold last night. Tonight was a totally different story. Jeff Teague had 19 points and 10 assists while Joe Johnson had 18. Marvin Williams followed up with 16 points off the bench.
-This was the last road game for the Hawks during the regular season. They finished with a 17-16 road record.
-Tonight's win clinched a playoff spot for the Hawks as we fight for home court advantage with the fourth spot in the East.
-Final Score: 109-87 Hawks! On Wednesday, we'll face former Hawk Damien Wilkins and the pesky Pistons again...

04/15: Hawks vs. Raptors

-Coming into this game the Hawks had a shot at clinching the No. 3 seed in the East as they only trailed the Pacers by three games.
-The Raptors have been struggling so it was expected that the Hawks would take care of business at home.
-In actuality though, the Hawks never had the lead in this game. In fact, they were down 53-39 at the half and they trailed by 24 points in the middle of the final quarter.
-The Hawks showed horrible defense during this game and the only players who really showed up tonight were Josh Smith and Ivan Johnson. Smoove scored 26 points and Ivan had 14 points and 7 rebounds. In the fourth quarter, Willie Green stepped up and gave the Hawks 11 points.
-The most glaring stat of the night is that the Raptors outscored the Hawks 46-28 in the paint.
-Neither Joe Johnson nor Jeff Teague could get going tonight. Johnson had 8 and Teague had 2 points with 2 assists to match.
-The good thing about this game is that there's another one tomorrow against the Raptors AGAIN. Surely the Hawks will take advantage of a second shot at taking down this opponent.
-Final Score: 102-86 Raptors.

4/14 Hawks @Magic

Hawks Starting Lineup: Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Zaza Pachulia, Kirk Hinrich, Jeff Teague
Magic Starting Lineup: Jason Richardson, Ryan Anderson, Glen Davis, J.J. Redick, Jameer Nelson

No Dwight = Easy Win, right? Not always. But for those who don't believe in Magic in the first place, the Hawks have proven they are the real magicians, making the Magic vanish into thin air, with or without the arguably last "true" center in the league.
The Hawks didn't come into this game thinking it would be a cake walk, they came out the gate running.
The Magic found themselves down most of the first quarter but tied once early on for mere seconds.
Smoove continued to impress with jumpers, dunks and rebounds, along with Kirk and Joe knocking down some threes, to propel the team to a 36-23 lead at the end of the first.
It seemed as though, when the Magic showed the slightest bit of life, the Hawks crushed their wishes and dreams.
The second quarter started off decent enough for the Magic, they found themselves only down 7. But then they experienced "T-Mac Back" as the former Orlando player went for 9 points in the quarter. Joe and Pargo had the hot fire, Pargo knocked down nothing but TRES (for much of the game). Hawks were up 62-42 at the halftime break.
Hawks allowed the Magic to get a little life with less than 8 min left in the third quarter but still had a lead of 67-51. We got the news that Zaza unfortunately experienced a sprained ankle and would not return for the night during the third. Smoove was ballinnnnnn’ on ‘em. Hitting hook shots and getting to the line ad blocking shots. Pargo hit a beautiful TRE with little time left on the shot clock, shutting up the crowd who got excited after a wide open Nelson three. Pargo’s fifth 3 put the Hawks up 27.
Marv quietly had a productive game where he finished with 16 points, he could be found all over the court, inside the paint, hitting jumpers, and rebounding.
Right off the bench, Stack hit a fadeaway jumper! After a few attempts at a comeback led by Wafer, everyone knew the game was done. Stack finished the quarter with a solid 11 points!
109-81 for this Hawks win! There were SIX players in double digits: Joe (16), Smoove (16), Pargo (17), Stack (11), Marv (16) and T-Mac (11).

4/12: Hawks @ Celtics

-The story of this game was missed opportunities. We had chance after chance after chance to take this game but we couldn't take advantage.
-At the end of the first quarter, the Celtics led by 1 but the Hawks gained control during the second quarter to take an 8-point lead at the half.
-That lead would dwindle as Boston fought their way back toward the end of the third and went up by 1 at the start of the fourth. It looked like Boston was going to run with the lead but the Hawks kept getting opportunity after opportunity to hang in there.
-The majority of the fourth quarter was a seesaw (five lead changes) that led to overtime.
-The C's hit some big shots in the beginning of the extra period but the Hawks hung tight. Both teams started committing turnover after turnover. The Celtics limited the Hawks to just 2 points in the final moments of the game during which they gained the lead and seized the victory.
-Atlanta had several opportunities at the end of regulation and at the end of overtime but we just could not capture the flag. Joe Johnson struggled in the second half and the whole team went cold in the latter half of overtime despite Kevin Garnett fouling out of the game.
-The Celtics were without Ray Allen tonight but it didn't matter. They have been hot recently and this was the second of a back-to-back against the Hawks who may have been too rested.
-Rajon Rondo recorded his sixth triple-double of the season and continued his nineteen game streak of double-digit assists. The Celtics also grabbed noticeably more rebounds than we did. They had 56 boards to our 39.
-But enough talk about the Celtics..
-Jeff Teague scored 21 points and 6 assists and Smoove had 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Joe Johnson recorded 14 points. Zaza Pachulia showed out against the Celtics (you know he had to do it) by recording 13 points and 7 boards.
-Final Score: 88-86 OT Celtics. Orlando is up next...

4/7 Hawks @ Bobcats

1st Quarter
·      Hawks had a roller coaster first quarter where they started off strong but soon lost the lead.
2nd Quarter
·      Bobcats quick to score in the very beginning of the quarter.
·      Marv started off the quarter by hitting a three after a good pass from Pargo (also to note he came shy of the buzzer with a three in the first quarter).
·      Pargo with the impressive crossover to hit the fadeaway jumper and the Hawks are up 1 but it is answered on the other end.
·      The Bobcats were playing aggressively and Higgins kept hittin’ for them.
·      Willie hit a jumper to bring the Hawks back within one.
·      Ivan played some impressive defense that led to a Bobcats turnover and a Marvin three at the other end for the Hawks to take the lead by 2.
·      Ivan on the boards for the Hawks led to a Pargo three.
·      Pargo to Willie for the TRE ball.
·      Zaza with the great rebound to get the ball back to Ivan for the easy layup. Hawks up 8 with 5:32 min to go in the quarter.
·      Zaza hit a hook shot with two defenders in his face.
·      The Bobcats couldn’t buy a shot to drop at this point.
·      After a Hawks foul put the Bobcats at the line, things started going their way (slightly)and they were down 9. They still couldn’t find a way to slow down the Hawks second unit.
·      Pargo hit a TRE ball that put the Hawks up 12.
·      Bobcats had a nice little ppossesion before the clock ran out but still found themselves down 12 at the half, 48-36.
3rd Quarter
·      With the starters back in, the beating just continues on the Bobcats. Score was 50-36 within 2 minutes of starting.
·      Kirk then hit a TRE ball.
·      Joe hit a TRE. It was raining threes in Charlotte.
·      The Hawks lead is pushed to 20 with 10:20 min left.
·      At this point in the game, everyone on the Hawks were doing well pretty much.
·      It was refreshing to see the Hawks playing with the same intensity but they left Wall too open and he hit a three, luckily Joe took it at the other end and the Hawks were still up by 18.
·      Defensively, Hawks were wonderful. Double-teaming, causing turnovers that led to fast break points.
·      Zaza with the putback bucket off of Kirk’s miss.
·      Bobcats showed a little life and were down 78-61 with less than 3 min left.
·      The offensive boards were very present in this game and obviously helped the Hawks tremendously.
·      If it weren’t for Wall and Higgins, the Bobcats would have been extremely embarrassed out there on the court. Thankfully for them, they were only slightly.
·      Ended the quarter 86-68, Hawks.
4th Quarter
·      Bobcats came out energetic but the Hawks weren’t bowing down.
·      Ivan with the JAM just to rub in those two points some more Hawks up 92-76 with less than 9 min left in the game.
·      Somehow the Hawks let the Bobcats get hope and the lead was cut down to 12.
·      Zaza recovered a potential turnover for a bucket.
·      The Hawks almost created a Bobcats turnover but it turned into a 2 for them.
·      Zaza started doing his thing in the paint on both ends of the court; which worked tremendously in the Hawks favor.
·      Willie hit with the j to put the Hawks up 98-82 with under 7 min left.
·      Pargo’s FTs put the Hawks up 101-84 with less than 6 min left.
·      Marv with the catch and shoot to answer the Bobcats’ 2.
·      Pargo playing great defense on Higgins causes a Hawks fast break that led to Ivan at the FT line.
·      Jerry Stackhouse made an appearance with less than 5 min left.
·      Pargo’s FTs with 3:23 min left put the Hawks up 111-87.
·      Hawks got a little lax on the defense towards the end and the Bobcats came within 20.
·      Willie ended the Hawks dry spell to knock down a 2 and give the Hawks their 20 point lead back as it dipped to 18 for a few seconds with less than 1 min left.
·      Ivan hit a TRE ball with 4 seconds left.
With a final winning score of 116-96, there were eight Hawks players in double-digits. Joe and Ivan (J&J) had 18 and 17, respectively. Zaza added an impressi ve double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds.

3/31: Hawks @ Sixers

-The Hawks looked to take advantage of their last chance to get a win against the 76ers after losing to them twice already this season.
-Elton Brand was determined to keep that from being a reality. Yes, the thirty-three year old Elton Brand. Tonight, he played like a 23 year old.
-In the second quarter the Sixers went on a 9-2 run after trailing the Hawks by five to put them up 43-41 at halftime.
-Atlanta tied it up and took the lead at the start of the second half. They held on to the lead until about the eight minute mark of the fourth when the Sixers decided to attack the Hawks on all cylinders - even their old cylinders. Elton Brand scored 13 of his season-high 25 points in the fourth,which he coupled with 10 rebounds, to push the Sixers up and over the Hawks.
-This loss made the season sweep of the 76ers over the Hawks complete.
-Smoove led the Hawks with 34 points and Joe Johnson contributed 15 of his own. Willie Green, Jeff Hinrich and Jeff Teague all tied each other with 8 points for the night.
-Final Score: 95-90 Sixers. On the bright side, we don't have to face them anymore?

3/30: Hawks vs. Knicks

-Our old pal Mike Woodson came back to Philips Arena to face his former team for the first time as an opposing head coach. He was without Jeremy Lin (left knee) and Amare Stoudemire (back). With both teams fighting for playoff positioning, the conditions for this game were interesting.
-The Knicks struggled mightily againt the Hawks, with Mike Woodson crediting it to sluggishness. Both teams were sloppy with the basketball but the Hawks did a better job with turnovers thank the Knicks.
-The Hawks were on the brink of blowing out the Knicks late in the second quarter and their biggest lead of the game was at 15 points.
_Carmelo Anthony led his team back into the game at the end of the third quarter. The Knicks came within two points in the fourth but Carmelo ran out of energy. That's when Willie Green stepped up.
-Willie Green and Marvin Williams combined to outscore New York's reserves 33-14. Green tied his season-high 20 points and scored 15 of those points in the fourth quarter. Marv had 13 points and 7 rebounds.
-During the first half of the game it was all J-Smoove who lit up the Knicks and his former coach with 17 points. He increased it to 23 points by the end of the night. Joe Johnson chipped in 28 points and 6 rebounds and Zaza Pachulia grabbed 12 boards of his own.
-Final Score: 100-90 Hawks. It was an all-around great team effort.

3/28: Hawks vs. Bulls

-Derrick Rose sat this one out but that hasn't mattered much for the Bulls lately and tonight was no exception.
-The obvious thing from tonight's game: The Hawks are TIRED. They were sluggish throughout this entire game and nobody had their legs. Tonight was the fifth game in six days for the Hawks.
-Another obvious observation: The Bulls are GOOD - with or without DRose. They had Luol Deng, Taj Gibson, Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and John Lucas III to pick up the "slack". At one point, the Bulls led by 21 points.
-Smoove contributed 19 points and Joe Johnson gave 12 of his own. Jeff Teague finished with 13 points but it took him 14 shots.
-This one wasn't pretty.
-Final Score: 98-77 Bulls. On Friday, we face a very familiar face around these parts: Mike Woodson. It should be interesting for sure.

3/27: Hawks @ Milwaukee

-One of the goals for tonight was to keep the newly acquired Monta Ellis from having a breakout game for the Bucks. Unfortunately, this didn't go so well. He ended the night with 33 points and 17 of those came in the fourth quarter.
-The Hawks had entirely too many turnovers in this game. We are fifth best in the league for preventing turnovers, but tonight we gave the ball away 22 times.
-Joe Johnson had to leave the game momentarily within the first 3 minutes after accidentally colliding with Zaza Pachulia. JJ had to get 5 stitches in his lip. He was also cold tonight with only 11 points and going 4-of-14.
-At halftime, the Bucks led by 9 but the Hawks went on a 20-6 run in the third to take a 70-78 lead.
-Due to the fact that they could not control the turnovers or Monta Ellis, the Hawks lost their lead and the game. The team was clearly fatigued from their previous 4 OT game as well. Fatigue is no excuse though as this was the Bucks' fifth game in six nights.
-Smoove had a great game (no surprise there). He finished with 30 points and 18 rebounds. Teague had 15 points and 7 rebounds against Brandon Jennings, but he also recorded 7 turnovers.
-Final Score: 108-101 Bucks. Next Up: Chicago Bulls!

3.25 Hawks vs. Jazz

Jazz Starting Lineup: Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Devin Harris, CJ Miles, Gordon Hayward
1st Quarter:
   •   Some back and forth to start the game but the Hawks had some great defensive stops.
   •   Joe with dunks, jumps, fadeaways, and threes helped propel the Hawks in the time period.
   •   Joe had a strong 1st where he 8/8 with shot at the buzzer. He finished the quarter with 18pts. Caliente!
2nd Quarter:
   •   The Hawks had some good defense to start the 2nd while utah settled for outside jumpers.
   •   The Hawks were shooting 52% FG vs the Jazz's 42% FG.
   •   Kirk with an impressive hard scoop for the bucket.
   •   Hawks up 5 with 8:57 left in the 2nd.
   •   Willie knocked down a J and then scored again against a defense-less Utah.
   •   Tinsely answered it but the Jazz were still down 7 with less than 7 min left.
   •   All of the Hawks started knocking down shots, Smoove hit a J, Hawks were up 10.
   •   A three-point-play put the Jazz within single digits but Marv hit a J to give the Hawks their double-digit lead again.
   •   Hawks started settling for jumpers and the Jazz found themselves within 6 with under 4 left.
   •   It's like Smoove heard me as I typed because he went inside to put up the layup.
   •   Smoove with the and-1 play and the 11 point lead for the Hawks with less than 2 minutes left.
   •   Jeff with the nice alley-oop to Smoove for the JAM. Hawks up 53-38 with less than one minute left.
   •   Hawks end the quarter up 55-40.
3rd Quarter
   •   Jazz got a fast start to the quarter on both ends of the court.
   •   LD took a quick time out 49 seconds in after seeing how the Jazz started off strong.
   •   Jazz did a good job of stopping Atlanta and going inside to bring their team within 4 points with less than 10 minutes left.
   •   Joe's TRE ball put the Hawks up 9.
   •   Zaza put his back into a layup but his shot is answered by a three from Hayward.
   •   Miles' three and then a turnover put the Jazz within one with less than 4 minutes left.
   •   And suddenly the Jazz had put the pressure on the Hawks and gone up 4 points.
   •   Luckily, the Hawks were kept in the game by free throws.
   •   Kirk hit the floater and the Hawks were up 1 at the end of the 3rd.
4th Quarter
   •   A lot of back and forth between the Hawks and Jazz.
   •   The Jazz were looking good on the boards and that was helping them stay in the game.
   •   Hawks were letting the Jazz disrespect them with all that dunking on home court!
   •   Great block by Ivan.
   •   Hawks down 2 with less than 6 min left.
   •   Smoove had a great block and the Hawks move in for the advantage!
   •   Smoove, albeit looking pretty exhausted, picked up the momentum to put the Hawks up 1 with less than 4 minutes left.
   •   Jeff sped past the defense and the Jazz get called for a foul. His FTs put the team up 3.
   •   Zaza with the difficult layup and the Hawks back up 3 with less than 2 minutes left.
   •   Jefferson stole the ball from Zaza for the tie.
   •   Another nail biter of a game for the Hawks as there are 19 seconds left for a tied game at 98.
   •   Free basketball! But Smoove fouled out during regulation.
OT
   •   Both teams looked like they were struggling to start OT.
   •   Jazz up 2 with less than 2 left.
   •   Jeff works the D to tie the game at 100.
   •   An unimpressive end to the additional time led to another OT.
2nd OT
   •   This OT was much better than the last.
   •   Shots were answered and there was a lot of movement from the Hawks.
   •   The consistency of this time period brought both teams to yet ANOTHER overtime!
3rd OT
   •   Jeff went to the basket with ease during his possession.
   •   The Jazz had answers for Jeff's fluidity with Miles and Jefferson going off.
   •   Zaza was there to put in the putback layup.
   •   Marvin and Zaza controlled the final time of this OT but it wasn't enough to win and the Hawks and Jazz would go into their FOURTH and FINAL OT.
4th OT
   •   Good defense by Marv to force the missed bucket.
   •   Hawks up 130-125 with 2:47 left.
   •   Miles hit a three to bring the Hawks lead down to 3 with less than 2 left.
   •   Joe forced his way to the basket to bring the lead up 5.
   •   And Joe hit a fadeaway jumper to put the Hawks up 4.
   •   Jeff got fouled and hit both FTs.
   •   Finding themselves desperate and down 4 still, the Jazz were forced to foul Joe, who made both of his FTs and the Hawks would win in QUADRUPLE OT!
   •   Hawks win 139-133! Joe had an impressive 37 points and 8 rebounds. Smoove had 22 points and 10 rebounds. Zaza had 20 rebounds (!!!!!) and 15 points. Jeff had 18 points, Kirk had 12 points, Marv had 16 points and Willie added 10 points. A valiant and more than impressive effort from the guys!

3/24: Hawks vs. Wizards

-Here's an interesting fact about tonight's game..Before tip-off, the Hawks were watching footage of the Wizards vs. Pacers game from the other night. In the Wizards locker room, the TV was on the Louisville-Florida matchup in the NCAA tournament. That lets you know how each team valued tonight's game.
-But....if you didn't know that fact and you judged who wanted or needed the game the most from watching this game at the start...it appeared to be all Wizards.
-For three quarters the Wizards controlled the glass with 14 offensive rebounds. The Hawks were down by 16 late in the third before they pulling within 10 points entering the fourth quarter.
-After the second unit scored eight straight points, the Hawks trailed by four. Josh Smith and Joe Johnson took over the down the stretch and led this Hawks to victory. Joe Johnson scored nine of the last eleven points for the Hawks and hit a 3-pointer with 46.8 seconds left in the game.
-Joe Johnson finished with 16 points and Josh Smith scored a team-high 20 points. Marvin Williams contributed 13 points off the bench and Zaza Pachulia had a solid game in his first game back after sitting out the last game with an Achilles injury. ZP had 13 points.
-The Hawks literally stole this game from the Wizards who once led by 16.
-Final Score: 95-92 Hawks! We face the red hot Utah Jazz tomorrow night on the final game of a back-to-back-to-back.

3/23: Hawks vs. Nets

-During the first half, the Hawks had no offensive rebounds. By the end of the night they only had 5, however they did score in the paint a total of 50 times while the Nets only had 28 points in the paint.
-Both teams kept it close for the majority of the game. Late in the third quarter, the Nets went on a 16-2 run to gain a 69-62 lead over the Hawks.
-The tables turned in the fourth quarter when the Nets missed their first 4 shots and Atlanta went on a 22-6 run headlined by Josh Smith. During this run, Smoove had nine points, four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot. The Hawks outscored the nets 31-15 in the quarter.
-The Nets finally recovered from their dizzyness and chipped away at their deficit until they got within 4 points with 49 seconds remaining in the game. They would come close, but no cigar as the Hawks made five free throws to seal the win.
-J-Smoove had a second consecutive 30+/10+ game. He finished with 30 points and 12 rebounds. Jeff Teague added 17 points and Joe Johnson contributed 16. Marvin Williams also had a great night in his first game back from sitting out six games with a hip flexor. He had 11 points and 6 rebounds after a shaky start to the game.
-Final Score: 93-84 Hawks! We face John Wall and the Wizards tomorrow on the second game of a back-to-back-to back.

3/21: Hawks vs. Cavs

-This one looked like it wasn't going to end pretty for the Hawks.
-In the first quarter it was all Cleveland. Heading into the second quarter, they led the Hawks by 15 and Joe Johnson was struggling mightily.
-However, Atlanta caught back up and they led the Cavs 54-53 at halftime. Jerry Stackhouse was a large part of this resiliency by the Hawks. The 37-year old contributed 10 points and 2 steals off the bench which led the crowd to serenade him with chants of "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!" as he left the court at the half.
-Kyrie Irving was determined to keep the Hawks from sweeping his team. He exploded for 29 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. He was a pain in the neck for the Hawks all night long.
-Joe Johnson got hot late in the fourth to push the game into overtime. Within overtime, he continued to torch the Cavs by scoring seven of his 22 points and hitting the game-winning shot with 18 seconds left in OT. It was just another case of late game heroics for our captain, Joe Johnson.
-Smoove kept us going all while Joe was finding his stroke. Josh put up 32 points an 17 rebounds for the night. Zaza Pachulia had another great game with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
-Final Score: 103-102 Hawks in OT :)

3/19: Hawks vs. Celtics

-Wow. This was one was strange. First of all, the amount of Celtics fans that were in the Highlight Factory was nauseating. It honestly felt like this was a road game for the Hawks.
-Second of all, this was a very slow-moving game. It wasn't the most exciting thing to watch. At the half, the score was only 33-31. After three quarters, the score was 51-50. It was during the first few minutes of the fourth quarter that the Celtics gained momentum.
-Jeff Teague had a NASTY dunk over Ray Allen in the fourth and after the dunk he earned a technical due to his excessive hype.
-That lit a fire under the Celtics and they started firing on all cylinders. They went on a 24-7 run with 4:28 remaining in the game.
-The Hawks came back within 1 point of the Celtics when Joe Johnson hit a niiiice three-pointer with 11.8 seconds left but Ray Allen knocked down two free throws immediately after.
-Jeff Teague attempted to tie the game with 4.9 seconds left but he airballed from behind the arc.
-Joe Johnson was the biggest factor for the Hawks tonight with 25 points and 6 rebounds. Zaza Pachulia recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Josh Smith had a sub-par game tonight with just 10 points.
-Final Score: 79-76 Celtics. I HATE losing to those guys.

3/18: Hawks @ Cavs

-On this Sunday, the Atlanta Hawks found themselves yet again shorthanded by injuries. Jason Collins made his return (he played three minutes) but Jannero Pargo was sent to the hospital with an apparent case of appendicitis. We send Jannero Pargo our best wishes and we pray for a speedy recovery for him.
-Joe Johnson played small forward for the sixth game in a row and it is a role that is proving to be very effective for him. He scored 28 points tonight and 17 of those points came in the first quarter alone. He also had 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
-The Hawks shot at 55 percent during the first quarter which helped give them an early lead that they never let go of. Our biggest lead of the game was at 19.
-Larry Drew relied on Tracy McGrady and Jerry Stackhouse to replace Willie Green and Jannero Pargo. They were both productive for the Hawks as T-Mac contributed 8 points and 6 boards and Stackhouse scored 9 points in 9 minutes.
-Although the Hawks have a very limited roster, they are making the most of who they have available. This 3-guard rotation is really paying off for us and it will be interesting to see how it sizes up against the Celtics on Monday.
-Zaza Pachulia chipped in 9 points and a game-high 12 rebounds while Jeff Teague chipped in 18 points of his own. Josh Smith finished with 7 points, 8 boards, and 9 assists.
-Final Score: 103 - 87 Hawks. Let's Beat Boston at home!

3/16: Hawks v.s Wizards

-The Hawks finally came back home to play against the Washington Wizards tonight. It's their only game at home before traveling to Cleveland tomorrow.
-Before tonight's game Joe Johnson said that his knee felt fifteen times better. It showed. He matched his season-high with 34 points. He played small forward tonight while Kirk Hinrich played alongside Jeff Teague in the backcourt. Joe Johnson expressed that he enjoys playing in this 3-guard lineup. It seems to be working so far!
-The team was down by 4 at halftime but afterwards they went on a 24-8 run that turned a 6o-56 deficit into a 80-68 lead with about 3 minutes left in the game.
-As the second-leading scorer, J-Smoove finished with 23 points. Jeff Teague followed up with 14 points of his own.
-Final Score: 102-88 Hawks! Home Sweet Home.

3/14: Hawks @ LA Clippers

-The Hawks and the Clippers were engaging each other in a shootout at the start of Wednesday night's game however the Clippers went on a 7-0 at the start of the second quarter to pull ahead of the Hawks by 10.
-The Hawks found themselves playing catch up for the rest of the game but they never pulled within 5 points of the Clippers. At one point, the Clippers lead by 16.
-Most of the success for the Clippers came from their bench. Because of the great production coming from their bench, they were able to rest their starters more. When their starters did come onto the floor, they shot more efficiently as a result.
-J-Smoove was hot in the first quarter. He scored 11 points in his first 8 minutes of play but he got into foul trouble early.
-This was the second game of a back-to-back and also the last game of their longest road trip of the season. The Hawks were visibly tired and ready to come home.
-Joe Johnson scored 19 points and 5 assists while Josh Smith had 18 points and 6 rebounds. Zaza Pachulia finished wiht a double-double. He had 12 points and 10 boards.
-Final Score: 96-82 Clippers. Come back home, Hawks!!

3/13: Hawks @ Denver

-The Hawks came into this one after a refreshing win in Sacramento. They looked to continue the momentum and grab another W on the road.
-In the first half of this one, the Hawks showed no defense. They allowed the Nuggets to shoot 60%.
-After the half, the Hawks evened things up and balanced out the game. Both teams were going back and forth and playing each other very well.
-Josh Smith went off in the fourth quarter by scoring 15 points. He made a layup with 29 seconds left in the game to give the Hawks the lead. The Hawks forced a turnover which lead to a 3-pointer by Gallinari. Kirk Hinrich had the chance to win the game but he missed one of his free throws therefore causing the game to go into overtime.
-In overtime, Smoove fouled out so Joe Johnson took over and scored seven straight points to give the Hawks a five-point lead. The Nuggets caught back up however.
-Zaza Pachulia had a shot at the game-winning layup but he just couldn't get it to go.
-This was a heartbreaking one indeed.
-Joe Johnson dropped 34 on the Nuggets and Smoove followed up with 33 of his own. Kirk Hinrich had 22 points for the night and Zaza Pachulia had 6 points and 13 rebounds.
-Final Score: 118-117 OT. Nuggets. Both Teams Played Hard.

3/11: Hawks @ Sacramento

-Tonight the Hawks were without their "9 to 5", Ivan Johnson, for family reasons. They were also without the services of Willie Green who is nursing a hamstring that he strained before the game in Detroit.-The best thing going for the Hawks early in this game was their defense. They recorded 6 steals and Zaza Pachulia had 7 boards in the first quarter alone!
-Jimmer Fredette lived up to his hype tonight and frustrated the Hawks along with Demarcus Cousins.
-Marvin Williams didn't start tonight but he came off the bench on a mission.
-Towards the end of the 1st the Hawks grew comfortable and slacked up on their defense. Zaza Pachulia didn't let up, however. He managed to score a double double in the 1st half.
-Both teams played each other well in the first half. The score at the break was 52-51 Sacramento.
-In the third quarter, the Hawks scored 29 points and all of these points were made possible by Jeff, Joe and Josh with the exception of a 3-pointer in the last 40 seconds of the quarter by Radmanovic. Joe Johnson came out after halftime with a mental toughness that was contagious. Everyone else stepped up and the Hawks showed excellent ball movement and teamwork.
-At the end of the fourth, the Kings started heating up and their crowd was relentless in making noise for their team. Joe Johnson took over the game though and did the little things like create assists and make free throws. Marvin Williams showed some true grit tonight as well. Overall, it was a great effort by everyone who suited up for the Hawks tonight.
-Six out of nine Hawks had points in double digits. Smoove led the team with 28, Joe Johnson followed up with 21 after having a dismal start, and Jeff Teague chipped in 16.
-Final Score: 106-99 Hawks! Next up, we take on those Denver Nuggets.

3/8: Hawks @ Detroit

-The Pistons came into this game on a 2-game winning streak which included an impressive win against the Lakers. It was important that the Hawks came into this game the right way because the Pistons are not a sleeper team by any means.
-The Hawks made their first nine shots and led by 11 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Pistons managed to hold the Hawks to just 12 points and 2 field goals and led the Hawks by 5 heading into the final period.
-At one point, the Hawks were down by 12 but they kept chipping away and cut the lead down to two. The Hawks scrapped and scrapped but they couldn't grab the loose balls that they needed the most and convert. Detroit had 37 rebounds at the end of the night while the Hawks had 24.
-One surprising stat came in the turnovers column. The Pistons turned the ball over 20 times. The Hawks only had a total of 8 turnovers for the night. This stat shows just how much rebounds can make a difference.
-Greg Monroe and Jason Maxiell caused the most trouble for the Hawks. Monroe scored 20 and Maxiell chipped in 19.
-As for the Hawks, J-Smoove led the team in scoring with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Joe Johnson returned to the Hawks for the first time after missing some games due to tendinitis in his left knee. He scored 18 points.
-Final Score: 86-85 Pistons. Next up is Sacramento.

3/7: Hawks @ Miami

-The Hawks forced the Heat to fight right down to the finish for this one - which is always a good thing. It is an especially good thing when you only have half of your team dressed to play.
-Both teams were neck and neck in a lot of their stats. Miami had 41 rebounds and the Hawks had 36. Atlanta had 19 fast break points while Miami finished with 17. The Heat scored 40 points in the paint; the Hawks had 38.
-In the 3rd quarter, the Hawks led by 10 before the Heat came charging back on a 13-0 run.
-Pargo made a 3-point play with about 30 seconds left in the game before Haslem answered back and pushed the Heat lead back to three. Radmanovic pulled Atlanta to within one with 4 seconds remaining but Wade knocked down a pair of free throws.
-Pargo tried to hit game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer but it hit the rim and bounced away from the basket.
_The Hawks scrapped hard during this game but came up short at the end.
-Josh Smith led the team in scoring with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Jeff Teague finished with 16 points and Zaza Pachulia ended the night with 10 rebounds to go along with his 9 points.
-While we wish it wasn't a loss at all, this one wasn't all that bad.
-Final Score: 89-86 Heat.

3/6: Hawks @ Indiana

-J-Smoove was hot from the start in this one. He hit 12 of his first 15 shots and went off for a total of 27 points and 9 rebounds. He wasn't the only one flowing offensively for the Hawks.
-In the fourth quarter, Smoove was scoreless but Pargo and Pachulia teamed up and scored 21 points for the Hawks in the final 16 minutes of the game. Pargo hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points while Pachulia scored a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
-Speaking of rebounds, the Hawks beat the Pacers on the glass 45-37.
-The Hawks led by 16 at one point but the Pacers kept coming back into this one forcing the Hawks to grind it out until the end. At one time, the Pacers led by 5.
-The Hawks managed to get this won on the road without the services of Joe Johnson, Al Horford, Jason Collins and Willie Green. Tomorrow night they will face the Miami Heat for the final time this season.
-It will be interesting to see how the team will come out, especially with this being the second game of a back-to-back.
-Final Score: 101 - 96 Hawks. This was the fourth win for the Hawks in their past five games.

3/3 Hawks VS. Oklahoma City

First Quarter Highlights-
   •   Westbrook made the first goal of the game.
   •   Jeff got a steal for the fast break and tie bucket.
   •   Two quick turnovers on OKC possessions led to a three for Kirk. Hawks up 5-2.
   •   Marv poked the ball away for Jeff to take it down to put the Hawks up 5. 5 OKC turnovers converted to 7 points.
   •   Durant to Westbrook for a 3 from Ibaka's block on the other end.
   •   Great energetic start for the Hawks had them up 5 at the first timeout. 5:54 min left.
   •   A lot of buckets were answered by both teams.
   •   Ivan and Stack saw early entries again.
   •   Both teams were making it to the FT line as well.
   •   Smoove to Kirk for the 3 put the Hawks up 20-16 with 3 min left.
   •   OKC was 3/4 outside the arc while the Hawks were fighting more inside the paint which led to Smoove at the FT line. Hawks up 2 with less than 2 min.
   •   Ivan got the rebound off of the FT miss and then hit a jumper.
   •   Pargo hit his first shot to put the Hawks up 3 with less than 30 seconds left.
   •   Hawks finished the 1st ahead 27-24. Notable plays by Jeff and Smoove. Notable shots by Kirk.
Second Quarter Highlights-
   •   James Harden started the quarter with a 3-point-play to tie.
   •   Ivan brought an impressive impact to the team with the 2 to bring the Hawks up 31-27.
   •   Vlad Rad answered Harden's 2 with a 3 of his own.
   •   Ivan put in work on both ends of the court, passing, defensively, buckets. Hawks up 7 with 6:53 left.
   •   Smoove hit both FTs and the defense by the Hawks forced another Thunder turnover.
   •   Thunder got a couple quick buckets to cut the Hawks lead to 4.
   •   Hawks were putting pressure on the Thunder and then Jeff hit a TRE ball to put them up 47-38 with 2:30min left.
   •   Hawks improved from the FT line which assisted in putting them up 49-38.
   •   With 2 min left, Westbrook was the only Thunder player in double digits.
   •   Smoove connected the jumper to put the Hawks up 8 with less than 1 min left.
   •   Jeff drove to the bucket to answer Durant's 2.
   •   Hawks up 53-47 at the half.
Third Quarter Highlights-
   •   Smoove hooked the shot for the first 2 of the second half.
   •   Kirk hit the shot clock buzzer-beater to bring the Hawks lead to 10.
   •   With Jeff taking it to the hoop and Kirk hitting shots, Hawks were looking strong. Unfortunately, OKC kept answering.
   •   Zaza took his faithful midrange jumper to put the Hawks up 61-55. Perkins got his 5th foul with 7:49min.
   •   Marv to the basket for the 3-point-play.
   •   Durant to Ibaka for an impressive jam but Thunder still trailed by 6.
   •   Smoove moving to the hole strongly.
   •   Hawks let Durant cook ever-so-slightly and the Thunder were within 3 with 4:45 min left.
   •   Zaza got the board and fought for the ball but resulted in a jump ball that the Hawks won.
   •   Hawks up 1 after Westbrook lobbed to Durant for a jam.
   •   Vlad Rad for the big TRE ball to put the Hawks up 2.
   •   Tied game with less than 30 seconds left.
   •   Pargo hit a TRE ball at the buzzer!!!! Hawks were up 76-75.
Fourth Quarter Highlights-
   •   Zaza with the hustle play for the ball to Pargo for another TRE ball!
   •   Zaza had some key plays early in the quarter.
   •   OKC with 20 turnovers due to the Hawks' defense have proven to be beneficial.
   •   Zaza cleaned up a Jeff miss putting the Hawks up 83-79 with 6:44 left.
   •   Smoove JAMMED the ball over Ibaka AND got the and-1!!!!
   •   Smoove JAMMED the ball AGAIN to put the Hawks up 87-79!!!
   •   Great defense from Smoove forced Durant to turn the ball over.
   •   Harden went to the basket for an and-1 play and the Hawks were up by 3.
   •   Jeff hit 1 of 2 FTs to push the lead to 4 with under 2:30 min left.
   •   Durant hit a 3 to bring the Thunder within 1.
   •   Smoove hit a TRE ball with under 2min left!!!
   •   Hawks struggled with FTs this quarter but Smoove hit 1 of 2 to put them up 3 with 1:30 min left.
   •   Smoove hit the spin move on Ibaka and got that hook shot! Hawks were up 95-90 with 1 min left. He had 11 points in the quarter.
   •   The Thunder didn't take advantage when they could have and the Hawks got the ball with 24 seconds left and sent Smoove to the FT line to make the score 97-90.
   •   Hawks win!!!!! Beat the Thunder with a final score of 97-90.
   •   Smoove put up another double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds, Zaza also had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, Jeff had 16 points and Kirk added 10 points. The bench played so well again! Defensively and offensively, they made their presence known.

3/2 Hawks Vs. Milwaukee

No Joe? No Willie? No Al? No Twin? No problem…(kind of…). We wish the guys a speedy recovery but the Hawks got it DONE tonight without some very influential players!

   •   Energetic start for the Hawks who didn't let the Bucks get their 1st lead until 5min were left in the quarter.
   •   Marv had an impressive block on Delfino's shot.
   •   Stack got his earliest start (1st quarter game entrance) since November of 2010. He made good use of his PT.
   •   Remember that Bucks lead? Didn't last long as Zaza put the Hawks back up by 1 point from the FT line.
   •   Smoove made a statement (as he has been doing) this game with a few three-point-plays and an early stat line of 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the first 13 minutes.
   •   Brandon Jennings played the entirety of the first quarter to ensure his team a lead…didn't work that time as the Hawks ended that quarter up 27-25. Considering the 8 turnovers, this score was great.
Second Quarter Highlights:
   •   Some of the Bucks bench came in the second quarter ballin' which eventually lead to an advantage.
   •   But Pargo sent a perfect lob to T-Mac for the SLAM, Hawks were down 31-29.
   •   Too many turnovers this quarter, on both sides but especially on the Hawks end.
   •   Nice drive and scoop by Teague to bring the Hawks within 3.
   •   Smoove with the fall to the floor hustle to get the ball to Teague who is fouled coming down the court.
   •   Hawks had 15 turnovers with 5:30 min. left.
   •   Smoove was playing some good ball inside the paint. He had a double-double with 4 min. left in the first half. He had 13 points and 12 rebounds to end it.
   •   Brandon Jennings with a quick 8 points put the Bucks up 46-37.
   •   Bucks were up 51-39 at the half.
Third Quarter Highlights:
   •   A little heated exchange between Jennings and Zaza's back (as he did not entertain it).
   •   It was now Jeff's turn to shine, he stripped Jennings and finished the fast break.
   •   Jeff went off to put the Hawks down only 58-47.
   •   Smoove went inside and dunked for ANOTHER 3 point play.
   •   Jennings had 22 points before the end of the third.
   •   The Bucks were up 11 with 2:44 left in the third.
   •   Marv cleaned up a shot attempt and Bucks coach Scott Skiles got charged with a technical.69-61 Bucks.
   •   Jeff to Marv for the big TRE ball!!!
   •   Jennings' scoring streak didn't stop and he put his ball team back up by 9.
Fourth Quarter Highlights:
   •   Pargo opened up the fourth with a 3.
   •   TMac's bucket cut the deficit to 8 with 9:30 left.
   •   Vlad Rad's TRE ball cut the deficit to 5!
   •   Tmac's TRE ball brought the Hawks within 2.
   •   Pargo brought the Hawks within one with his jumper! Pargo hit another jumper to put the Hawks up by 1! He had 7 points in the quarter at this point. This quarter was Pargo's for the taking!
   •   Stack drove to the bucket for the lay-in to put the Hawks up 4.
   •   Pargo with 11 off the bench in the fourth.
   •   Ivan with the strong man rebound and tip-in. Hawks up 89-86 with less than 4 min. left in the game.
   •   Ivan's blocking foul on Drew Gooden allowed the Bucks to get within 1.
   •   But no need to worry as Vlad Rad hit the 3 to put the Hawks up 92-90 with 2 min. left.
   •   Gooden tied the game at the FT line with 1:16 min. remaining.
   •   Smoove with the JAM from TMac to put the Hawks up 2.
   •   Ilyasova with the key rebound and tip-in for the Bucks tie.
   •   Vlad Rad hit the big 3!!!!! 97-94 with 11.4 seconds left.
   •   Great defense from Vlad and Smoove on Gooden to stop any scoring.
   •   Stack knocked down his two FTs to put the Hawks up 5 points with 6 seconds left.
   •   Hawks win 99-94! Incredible game from all of the guys. Smoove had 24 points and 19 rebounds, Jeff and Pargo had 11 points, T-Mac added 11 rebounds, and Marv had 10 points. Wonderful efforts all around!

2/29 Hawks VS. Golden State

The Hawks had a nice, somewhat long, break during the All-Star festivities but that might have proven to be their downfall when they faced the Warriors.
Still missing Al Horford and having Joe Johnson return from a knee injury, the Hawks had to take on the Warriors, sans Steph Curry, at home.
The guys started off strong as they lead by as many as 8 points in the beginning of the first.
Joe and Marv gave the guys that much-needed spark but Monta Ellis would soon make his presence known.
The Warriors bench maintained the strength of the team but Zaza did not allow them to get too comfortable.
The game was hard fought until the end but weaknesses were felt at the free throw line (as well as behind the arc and even within the paint). It just wasn't our shooting night.
The Hawks fell to the Warriors by only 3 points! They had many opportunities to get back in the game but it was ugly all around. Zaza finished strong with an impressive 16 rebounds and 13 points. Joe and Jeff had 18 and 15 points respectively, Josh with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Marvin added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Final Score: 85-82 Warriors.

2/23: Hawks vs. Orlando

-Tonight we faced the Orlando Magic at home in our last game before the All-Star break and boy, weren't we all anxious to get to that break. It's been a tough stretch these past few games.
-That being said, again the Hawks were without Al Horford, Jason Collins, and Joe Johnson tonight. We had lost our last five of six and eight of eleven overall. The Magic looked to grab a win on the road before going home to host All-Star weekend.
-Josh Smith was the driving success of the first quarter (and the rest of the game). We led by 9 going in to the second quarter where Pargo would step up and dominate with several fadeaways and 3-pointers. At the half, the Hawks were sitting comfortably on a 17-point lead.
-The lead squandered away and at the of the 3rd quarter, the Hawks only led by 3. A scary moment came in this quarter when Jeff Teague had to leave the game after taking an elbow from Dwight Howard to the eye. He bounced back like always, however and continued to be a factor in tonight's game.
-So we go into the 4th hoping that the Hawks would figure out some kind of way to hold on to this one.
-Enter Willie Green. He went on an amazing offensive explosion in the 4th which really put the Hawks over the hump. He scored seven points in the final three minutes of the game including a 3-pointer and a floater to beat the shot clock. Green finished with 14 points.
-Teague, Radmanovic and Pachulia were great tonight as well especially at the free throw line.
-Our reserves were awesome as they combined for 36 points tonight. Pargo had 15 and while Zaza only 4 points, he contributed 13 rebounds. Teague gave us 15 points but Smoove was the leading scorer with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
-Final Score: 83 - 78. Hawks. Another wonderful win against the Magic. And now for a much needed break

2/22: Hawks @ New York

-Coming into this game we learned that Joe Johnson would miss this game as well as tomorrow's game against the Magic. He is also no longer taking part in this year's All-Star weekend :(
-Without the services of Joe Johnson, Al Horford and Jason Collins, the Hawks found themselves with their backs against the wall.
-We had the chance to witness "Linsanity" first hand as Madison Square Garden was alive and well.
-Willie Green was placed in tonight's starting lineup again for the absence of Joe Johnson.
-For the first 7 minutes of the game, the Hawks kept up with the Knicks but lost control after the Knicks went on a hot 16-0 run.
-By the end of the first half, the Hawks trailed by 27 points.
-In the third quarter, the Hawks went on a 19-2 run to make the score better but the Knicks answered back with a 17-2 run of their own.
-The biggest blemishes of the night were the turnovers and the points in the paint. The Hawks recorded 25 turnovers and they only had 38 points in the paint against 54 by New York.
-The sensational Jeremy Lin scored 17 points and 9 assists and won his first game alongside Carmelo Anthony who had 15.
-Jeff Teague led the Hawks in scoring with 18 and Willie Green followed behind with 16 points.
-This road trip was not successful by any means for the Hawks. They finished 1-4.
-Final Score: 99-82 Knicks. The Hawks will return home to face the Magic tomorrow night before the All-Star break.

2/20: Hawks @ Chicago

-The last time the Hawks faced the Bulls in Chi-town, they blew a big lead and suffered a heartbreaking loss. With that in mind, we all hoped for a different outcome.
-Before the game, we learned that Joe Johnson would play in a knee brace due to tendonitis. He would actually have to leave the game in the 3rd quarter due to the soreness. It was unknown whether or not Derrick Rose would play for the longest, but he did give it a go.
-Marvin Williams was not with the team due to a death in the family, so Willie Green moved into the starting lineup at SG and Joe Johnson played SF.
-We started off this game like we did last month in Chicago -- full of energy and the rim was our ocean. However, that didn't last very long. The Bulls went on a 23-4 run in the first quarter and the Hawks spent the rest of the game trying to catch up.
-The Bulls out-rebounded the Hawks 30-13 in the first half. They had 13 offensive rebounds while we only had 1. The Bulls also made twice as many free throws as the Hawks (73.7%).
-Mike James and John Lucas III frustrated the Hawks also as they backed up for Derrick Rose. They combined for a total of 17 points.
-The Hawks fought back to within 5 points of the Bulls late in the fourth quarter but the Bulls defense held the Hawks scoreless for the last 3 minutes of the game.
-Jannero Pargo took over for Joe Johnson in the 3rd quarter and provided the Hawks with 19 points. He was our leading scorer of the night.
-Josh Smith was our second-leading scorer with 17 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks. Joe Johnson ended his night at 12 points.
-Final Score: 90-79 Bulls. The Hawks will face the sensational Jeremy Lin on Wednesday.

2/18: Hawks @ Portland

-Before tonight's game Jason Collins announced that he will be out for another two to four weeks so that his elbow tear can heal properly. He's still not able to start rehabbing.-The Hawks had great energy to start this one in Portland. Joe Johnson, in particular, looked to get this game going early.
-It didn't take long for the Trailblazers to heat up and cool off the Hawks. Nicolas Batum, Lamarcus Aldridge and Raymond Felton all joined forces to create serious problems for the Hawks. They had 22, 19 and 14 points respectively.
-Coming into this one, Portland was trying to avoid having their longest home losing streak in six years. They managed to avoid that by a long shot tonight.
-The Hawks failed to grab rebounds tonight. They grabbed 5 boards against Portland's 11. However, the Hawks only had 9 turnovers compared to 14 by the Trailblazers. One glaring stat where the Trailblazers beat the Hawks: 3-point percentage. The Trailblazers shot 40.9% from behind the arc while the Hawks only shot 25.9%.
-Essentially, it was the second chance opportunities that killed the Hawks. Portland had a total of 50 rebounds to a mere 27 rebounds by the Hawks.
-Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 19 points and Willie Green followed closely behind with 17. J-Smoove finished with 14 pts, 10 rebs and 5 asts.
-Final Score: 97 - 77 Trailblazers. The Hawks will come back to the East Coast for a bit before the All-Star break. Let's hope they'll have better luck on this side of the country.

2/15 Hawks @ Phoenix

Hawks Starting Lineup- Josh "J-Smoove" Smith, Joe Johnson, Jeff Teague, Zaza Pachulia, Marvin Williams
Suns Starting Lineup- Steve Nash, Jared Dudley, Grant Hill, Channing Frye, Marcin Gortat

Hot start for both teams as they were tied early in the first quarter while shooting over 60%.
First quarter turned ugly as the Hawks started shooting 40% and the Suns continuing to hit their shots at a high percentage.
The Suns 14-0 run ended due to a turnover and a nice pass from Marvin to Smoove for the slam.
End of the first quarter left the Hawks trailing by ten.
Smoove started the 2nd quarter with a steal and got fouled at the other end!
Hawks took advantage of turnovers and Smoove produced an and-one play to bring the Hawks within 8.
Smoove had a great pass to Willie in the corner for the threeeee.
Willie's shots brought the Hawks within 6.
Joe hit a three to bring the Hawks within 4 with 6:25 left in the 2nd.
Hawks battled back with the efforts of Smoove and Willie but Frye hit a layup to keep the Suns lead at 4.
The Suns came back and hit consecutive threes to bring their lead up 8.
Zaza went to the basket for the grown-man move and the layup.
Nash was seemingly unstoppable in the first half as he hit a jumper to bring the Suns up 10.
Kirk hit the pull-up jumper to bring the Hawks deficit to 9 at the half.
LD called an early timeout as the Hawks found themselves down 13 upon starting the 3rd.
Zaza soared over players to hook in a shot and bring the deficit to 11 and then a Suns turnover allowed Teague to score on the fast break.
Willie gave the Hawks some hope but the Suns were still up 9 with 5min left in the 3rd.
Zaza was showing his strength inside and going to the line because of it.
Smoove started hitting shots and the Suns were only up 6.
Smoove had 10 points in the 3rd and the Hawks were only down by 4 at the end.
Smoove with 22 points total and a layup brought the Hawks within 2 with 10 min left in the game.
And Smoove's great play brought the Hawks to lead by 1 point with 7:35 min left.
Nash got a technical foul and Vlad Rad hit a layup and just like that, Hawks were up 3!
Joe added to the momentum with a fadeaway and brought the lead to 5.
The game completely turned around and Willie hit a 3 that might have hurt just a little because it brought the Hawks lead to 9…
Suns started getting desperate and fouling…Hawks were too much for them!
Nash came back to bring the Suns within 3 and there were 45 seconds left.
Smoove hit 1 of 2 free throws to bring the Hawks lead to 4.
Nash and Willie were sent to the line with less than 10 seconds left in the game and then...
Hawks win!!!! 101-99.
Smoove had another impressive game with a double-double. He had 30 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Willie Green added a great 20 points and 4 assists. Jeff Teague added 16 points and 5 assists and Zaza Pachulia had 15 points and 4 rebounds.

2/14: Hawks @ Los Angeles

-The Hawks played against the Lakers in the first game of their west coast road trip. They looked to turn around their success after losing badly to the Heat at home.
-It seemed like they were doing the right things. They held the Lakers to 84 points, they held Kobe to 10 points and they had fewer turnovers than the Lakers. They even shot more free throws and collected 17 of the Lakers' 47 misses.
-However, they only shot 34.4 percent and they couldn't keep Bynum and Gasol out of the paint. Both Gasol and Bynum had double-doubles.
-In the second quarter the Hawks only scored 10 points. They missed seven 3-point attempts and seven consecutive layup opportunities.
-In the second half the Hawks turned things around and went on an 8-2 run to take their biggest lead of the game by 5 points.
-Even though the Lakers didn't necessarily have a good shooting night, they did play good basketball and they came out with the victory.
-Jeff Teague led all the Hawks with 18 points.
-Final Score: 86-78 Lakers. Let's try to get the W tomorrow night against Phoenix.

2/12: Hawks vs. Heat

-The last time the Heat were in Atlanta they handed us an ugly 3OT loss without the aid of LeBron James or Dwyane Wade.
-This game wasn't much prettier as the Heat had their two stars this time.
-The Hawks have struggled at home as of late and tonight was no different. We were clearly outplayed in every aspect.
_The Heat had 52 total rebounds whereas we only had 38. They had 44 points in the paint over the Hawks' 28 points in the paint.
-In the third quarter, the Hawks trailed by 32 points. Wade scored 21 points, Bosh had a double-double and James nearly recorded a double-double.....all of this was in the first half.
-The leading scorer for the Hawks tonight was Willie Green who had 17 points. Joe Johnson followed closely behind with 12 points. Josh Smith only contributed 8 points but he did record 7 assists.
-The Hawks will make a trip out to the west coast. The upcoming schedule will definitely present a challenge to the Hawks. It will be interesting to see how they respond.
-Final Score: 107-87. Bring on LA!

2/10: Hawks @ Orlando

-The Hawks knew they would have to face the pesky Orlando Magic without Dwight Howard's kryptonite, Jason Collins. In an attempt to give themselves more depth, the Hawks signed Erick Dampier to a 10-day contract.
-The Hawks have won 8-for-11 against Orlando, including a 4-2 playoff upset last year, since being swept out of the 2009 playoffs by the Magic.
-Today was Zaza Pachulia's birthday and the big guy put on a show. First of all, he's never played more than 38 minutes in a game during his 9-year career. Tonight he played 42:47. He finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
-This was a fun one to watch. It was a close game for most of the night and it came down to a thrilling OT finish by the Hawks. The Hawks won the first, third, and overtime quarters.
-Tracy McGrady led the bench with 9 points while Marvin and Teague chipped in 13 points each. Joe Johnson had 14 points and 5 assists.
-Josh Smith sent out a message after being snubbed for All-Star Weekend yet again. He dropped 23 points, 19 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 block on the Magic. At the sound of the final buzzer he waved goodbye to them.
-Final Score: 89-87 OT Hawks. Bring on Miami.

2/8: Hawks vs. Pacers

-After three consecutive losses at home, the Hawks really needed a win tonight. History was on their side as the Pacers haven't won in Philips since 2006.
-The Hawks played solid tonight as they shared the basketball and went after loose balls from start to finish. The team did not look lethargic at all. In fact, we looked like the Hawks team that went 4-1 on the road.
-Kirk Hinrich was absolutely phenomenal tonight. He had a season-best 17 points tonight. It was great to see him break out of his struggle following his return from shoulder surgery.
-Tracy McGrady had a good night also by chipping in 13 points off the bench for the Hawks.
-The Hawks had 45 rebounds against the Pacers' 33 boards. The Hawks also outscored the Pacers in fastbreak points 28-11.
-Indiana did not lay down all night. Tyler Hansbrough and Danny Granger were frustrating for the Hawks but they weren't enough to contain us.
-Joe Johnson had 20 points and a season-tying 8 assists and 6 rebounds. Josh Smith had a monster night with 28 points, 12 rebounds, season-high 5 steals, 3 assists and 3 blocks.
-Final Score: 97-87 Hawks. How great it feels to be back in the win column.

2/6: Hawks vs. Suns

-Steve Nash came into Philips Arena on the eve of his 38th birthday to face the Hawks. We weren't looking to let the celebration start early...
-Unfortunately, the Hawks were outplayed for the majority of the game. Every time that the Hawks tried to fight back, the Suns would pull ahead.
-The Suns made ELEVEN 3-pointers. Steve Nash went off for 24 points and 11 assists, all of his stats minus 1 assist came in the first three quarters.
-Phoenix also grabbed 10 extra boards than the Hawks with a total of 45 for the night.
-With Nash on the bench in the fourth, the Suns led by 22 points. Larry Drew put in our subs halfway through the fourth quarter and they gave a valiant effort to take this game back from the Suns.
-Willie Green scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth but it wasn't enough.
-Channing Frye was fantastic for the Suns with 19 points and 4 rebounds.
-Josh Smith had 18 points for the Hawks and Joe Johnson added 17 of his own.
-Final Score: 99-90 Suns. Let's hope our luck will change sooner rather than later.

2/4: Hawks vs. 76ers

-The Hawks came into this game looking to get back into the win column after Thursday's loss against the Memphis Grizzlies.
-In the first quarter, Ivan Johnson was putting in work. He had 6 points and 8 rebounds. T-Mac chipped in 7 points.
-On the other hand, Josh Smith and Jeff Teague struggled mightily in this one. Teague didn't score his first points until around the 4-minute mark of the second quarter. Smoove's 2 points were courtesy of free throws. He was 2-4 at the line in the first half.
-The second quarter was an all-around struggle for the Hawks. At the half, the Hawks were down by 16 to the Sixers.
-Coming out of halftime it looked like the Hawks' woes were going to continue. Everything was going for Ivan Johnson. He took over the Center position for the Hawks and he was scrapping left and right. J-Smoove also got things going in the blocks category. He had 7 to go along with his 9 points for the night.
-The switch flipped in the middle of the third when the Hawks gained some momentum from Ivan & Teague. They managed to cut the Sixers lead down to 12 at that point in the game.
-It didn't last long however. The Hawks just couldn't get over the hump. The Sixers shot 50% from the field. They also made 6 out of 9 of their free throws. We beat ourselves by recording 15 turnovers while the Sixers had 7.
-Ivan Johnson had a fantastic game with 16 points and Jeff Teague led the Hawks in scoring with 21.
-Final Score: 98-87 Sixers. Let's look ahead to Monday when we play against the Phoenix Suns.

2/2: Hawks vs. Grizzlies

-The Hawks were back in Philips for the first time tonight since their successful five-game road trip (where they went 4-1).
-Larry Drew wanted to make sure that the guys did not come back and become complacent as they typically do in the first game back home after a road trip.

-The guys got off to an energetic start with a lob from Teague to Smoove and a lob from Joe Johnson to Smoove.
-Jason Collins went down in the first quarter with a sprained elbow injury. For the rest of the game, the Hawks struggled to find someone who could truly guard Marc Gasol.
-The score stayed close up until halftime when the Grizzlies pulled ahead of the Hawks by 10.
-The Grizzlies outscored the Hawks 50-26 in the paint and 21-10 in fastbreak points. Dante Cunningham contained J-Smoove for most of the night, Marc Gasol seemingly grabbed every board and Rudy Gay put on a show offensively by scoring 21 points. Tony Allen also frustrated the Hawks with 18 points.
-Another thing that crippled the Hawks tonight was their 15 turnovers.
-Josh Smith was the leading scorer for the Hawks tonight with only 11 points. Joe Johnson and Ivan Johnson contributed 10 points each.
-Final Score: 96-77 Grizzlies. Time to re-group and get ready for the 76ers on Saturday

1/31: Hawks @ Toronto

-Here we are the end of a wacky road trip for the Hawks. The Hawks looked to grab another win on the road before heading home.
-Before this game there was a lot of talk surrounding Marvin Williams and his determination to have an outstanding game tonight. Guess who got things rolling for the Hawks early? Yep. Marvelous Marvin!
-In the first half, Marvin & Zaza dominated the game for the Hawks. Turnovers were killing us in the first quarter, but we turned things around and managed to have a great second quarter.
-T-Mac helped us out in the first half by contributing 6 points.
-If all this sounds good, allow to tell you something else. Joe Johnson scored TWENTY-FOUR points on the Raptors in the first half.
-At the half, the Hawks led 56-37. At the start of the third, the Hawks looked a little shaky but it didn't take long for them to turn things around and pick up where they left off.
-In the second half, we saw a lot of Ivan Johnson, T-Mac, Zaza Pachulia and Joe Johnson. Ivan "The Terrific" finished with 5 points and 6 boards.
_The Hawks did an excellent job of sharing the ball in this game. They didn't look like a team on their last leg of a long road trip at all.
-T-Mac was huge tonight with 15 points. Marvin, Zaza and Teague dropped 10 points each. Joe Johnson? Yea, he scored 30.
-Final Score: 100-77 Hawks. They're finally coming home :) Make sure to support them on Thursday at the Highlight Factory if you can!

1/29 Hawks @ New Orleans

First Quarter-

Hawks ball after the tip.
Joe passed to Marvin to hit the first shot, a three ball.
Seemed as though everybody was hot in the first few minutes hitting shots putting the Hawks up 10-2 with approximately 9:30 min left in the first.
Great steal by Marvin for the fast break and he got fouled after the layup for a three-point-play with 8 min left on the clock. 15-2 Hawks.
Jeff had 11 points in the first with 5 min left. 21-4. What ankle injury?!
T-Mac and Jason checked in after Zaza was elbowed in the face, T-Mac hit his first FG.
T-Mac with the beautiful assist to Kirk for the lay-in. 27-6 in the first with 2:50 left.
27-13 at the end of the first quarter.

Second Quarter-

Willie hit a big three to put the Hawks up 33-15 early in the second.
The second unit came in and the Hornets attempted to come back by bringing their score to 21. The Hawks still led by 12.
The Hornets deficit was cut to 7 after an and-one play by Okafor.
With the starters in, the Hawks tried to put the lead back up to double digits with a few efficient plays but the Hornets answered their shots back, led by Okafor.
Joe crossed Ayon and then hit the floater to put the Hawks up 46-35 late in the 2nd.

Third Quarter-

The Hornets came out of the halftime battling and brought their deficit down to 6 with 6:18 left.
Zaza hit the strong man move for the rebound and got fouled on the shot attempt to go to the line and hit one of 2 free throws.
Zaza kept going hard to the rim and brought the team's lead to 7.
Jeff knocked the ball away for the steal and fast break SLAM to bring his total to 19.
Marvin hit a three to put the Hawks lead to double digits with 4 min left in the third.
Hawks had a 20 point lead with 1:21 min left in the third.
Willie hit a buzzer beating three to close out the third!

Fourth Quarter-

Can we say…BLOWOUT?!
Willie hit his fourth three to put the Hawks up 83-56 with 8 min left in the last quarter.
Lob from Kirk to T-Mac for the JAM!
Ivan got the grown man rebound to dish it to Willie for the hook shot and put the Hawks up 89-60.
Stack hit a shot to bring the team up 91-62.
Hawks win! 94-72!!
Jeff finished with 24 points, Willie with 17 points, and Marvin had 14 points. The team shot 43.9% and kept the Hornets to 37.5% shooting.

1/28: Hawks @ Detroit

-The Hawks were looking to shake off Wednesday's loss in San Antonio with a win in Detroit. The Pistons are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and well...you know where the Hawks are :)
-The team looked very sluggish in the first half as the Pistons were simply having their way with them. At the half, the score was 46-35 Pistons.
-Joe Johnson started off the game 1-9 but he changed his shoes at halftime. The rest was history. He scored 28 points in the second half and absolutely took over the game as he knows how.
-Detroit held an 87-81 lead over the Hawks with 39.9 seconds left in the game but Marvin Williams hit a quick three to make it 87-84. But wait...there's more.
-On the following possession which was supposed to belong to Detroit, Joe Johnson stole the ball and hit a dagger from the behind the 3-point line to tie the score with 1.9 seconds left.
-The game went into overtime where the Hawks went on a 12-2 run thanks to Marvin Williams and J-Smoove raining threes on the Pistons.
-Funny how this game ended considering the Hawks had season-lows of 15 points in the 1st quarter and 35 points at halftime.
-Joe Johnson had 30 points while Marvin Williams followed up with 22. J-Smoove contributed 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Our beloved Zaza Pachulia gave us 16 points and 9 boards.
-Jeff Teague sprained his ankle in the game but the good news is that he is listed as day-to-day. Hinrich took over for him and finished with 5 points and 9 assists.
-Final Score: 107 - 101 OT Hawks. All's well that ends well!

1/25: Hawks @ San Antonio

-The Hawks have not won a game in San Antonio since 1997, which was Tim Duncan's rookie year. Tonight we hoped that this team could change history.
-Kirk Hinrich made his season debut in this game after undergoing surgery on his shoulder during the offseason. By the end of the game, he put 7 points on the board.
-The Spurs led the Hawks at the end of each quarter. An astonishing stat is that the Spurs turned the ball over 20 times and were still able to maintain control of this game.
-In the 1st quarter, the Spurs held the Hawks to 18 points. The third quarter was quite similar due to the fact that the Hawks only scored 17 points.
-In the fourth quarter, the Spurs were shooting 51% from the field and almost 50% from the 3-point line. The Hawks fell behind by double digits during the entire final quarter.
-Joe Johnson had only 10 points while J-Smoove finished with 13. The leading scorer was Jeff Teague who contributed 20 points.
-FInal Score: 105- 83 Spurs. No use in dwelling on the past....let's look to Detroit

1/23: hawks @ Milwaukee

-This was definitely one of those games that you could not turn away from at any point. It was a tight game down to the wire with so many lead changes.
-At the start of this game, the story for the Hawks was the play of Jeff Teague. His explosiveness and energy really gave the Hawks the push they needed to get going. In the first half, he scored 11 points. By the end of the game he had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
-Joe Johnson struggled in the first half but once he got hot, he scorched the Bucks. He scored a season-high 28 points tonight.
-Josh Smith played a major factor as well with a double-double. He had 19 points and 13 rebounds. In the late fourth, Drew Gooden (of all people) hit a major 3 for the Bucks but Smoove answered on the other end of the floor with a major 3 himself.
-Although it doesn't seem like it on paper, T-Mac was vital in this game as well. He came up with 5 key assists that led to major scoring possession for the Hawks. He also grabbed 3 boards.
-The Hawks had several turnovers in this game (12 to be exact). Fortunately, the Bucks were turning the ball over at the same rate. They actually turned the ball over 13 times.
-Thanks to another solid team effort and a sensational fourth quarter takeover by Joe Johnson, the Hawks started off this ridiculous road trip with a W.
-Final Score: 97 - 92 Hawks. 1 down, 4 more to go!

1/21: Hawks vs. Cavs

-The Hawks handled themselves very well tonight. They were embarrassed and disappointed at the outcome of last night's contest so they played aggressively and did everything they needed to do to secure the W.
-They were aggressive from start to finish and forced the Cavs to turn the ball over 20 times. On the contrary, Jeff Teague had ZERO turnovers tonight.
-The bench scored 49 of the Hawks' 121 points. Pargo, Ivan Johnson and Zaza all played hungry tonight. Pargo finished with 14 points. Ivan Johnson contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds while Zaza gave the Hawks 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
-The team moved the ball beautifully tonight. In fact, they recorded 31 assists.
-In the third quarter the team came out energized and they were able to extend the lead unlike they did last night.
-By the time the fourth quarter came along, the game was totally out of hand.
-Joe Johnson led the team in scoring tonight with 25 points. An interesting stat: every Hawk who played tonight, with the exception of Donald Sloan, scored at least 3 points.
-Final Score: 121 - 94 Hawks. What a great bounce back win.

1/20: Hawks @ Philadelphia

-This contest was definitely a game of two halves. The Hawks started off this game with a very sharp offense. They were shooting 50% and they held the 76ers to 34% shooting.
-The Hawks were sharing the basketball very well. Smoove and T-Mach had eight points, Pachulia had five, and four other players had four each. At the half, the Hawks led the 76ers 47-39.
-After the half, the Hawks struggled greatly. They were settling for jumpshot after jumpshot and not getting rebounds. They weren't doing anything on either side of the ball.
-The 76ers came out running and gunning and managed to take the lead about halfway through the 3rd quarter. They went on a 23 - 0 run that the Hawks never recovered from. The Hawks produced just 29 point in the second half.
-At the end of this one it was former 76er Wille Green who led the Hawks in scoring. He finished with 14 points. Jeff Teague had a great game with 12 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Smoove and McGrady both contributed 10 points.
-Final Score: 90-76 Sixers. The Hawks have a chance for redemption tomorrow...

1/18: Hawks vs. Blazers

-Jamal Crawford came to Philips Arena for the first time tonight since he became a Trail Blazer. Pretty much everyone in Atlanta showed nothing but love for Jamal all day. He received glowing comments about himself as both a player and a person from various media outlets and former teammates.
-It was the Hawks bench who really got things going early for the Hawks tonight. In the second half, it was the starters who sustained the team.
-It took a while for Joe Johnson to get going offensively in the first quarter, so Pargo came in and contributed 8 points.
-In the second quarter, Joe Johnson came back and lit up the Trail Blazers from inside & outside the paint.
-At the half, the Hawks led by 9. After the half, the Trail Blazers came out of the gate fighting their way back into the game. They took over the lead during the 3rd quarter while the Hawks went cold offensively.
-Josh Smith stepped up and took over in the middle of the third to keep the Hawks from falling behind too far. He definitely got the momentum going because from that point on the Hawks went on a 14-0 run to create a 13 point lead over the Blazers to end the quarter.
-Early in the fourth quarter, the Hawks went cold again as the Trail Blazers, led by Gerald Wallace, fought their way back to tie the game. Neither team was making it easy for the other - both teams were playing great defense. Then Joe Johnson and Josh Smith took over as they have the past 4 games.
-Jamal Crawford scored 22 points but it wasn't enough. Joe Johnson led the team with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. J-Smoove gave the Hawks 17 points and 11 boards while Jeff Teague chipped in 13 points.
-Final Score: 92- 89 Hawks. With this win, the Hawks are now #2 in the East and #1 in the Southeast :)

1/16: Hawks vs. raptors

-The Hawks looked to acquire their fifth straight win and their sixth win at home this evening against the Toronto Raptors.
-Tracy McGrady made a return after missing some games due to back spasms. He didn't contribute much tonight, but that's okay because he didn't have to.
-Joe Johnson and Josh Smith had another great game tonight as well as Jeff Teague.
-With the way that Smoove is playing this year, there's no way he won't be an All-Star. He only missed 5 field goals tonight out of 19 total.
-Joe Johnson did everything tonight. Not only did he have a terrific scoring night but he gave a great performance on the defensive end as well. In the last 3 games, Joe has put up 25 points, 5.7 rebounds and assists per game, and his free throw percentage is 86.7%
-Teague played for a total of 40 minutes tonight and he did a great job of going through the lane and getting to the basket against his competition.
-The Raptors did give the Hawks a few problems by mixing up the defenses throughout the game but the Hawks prevailed at the end of each quarter to maintain the lead. Our offense struggled greatly against the Raptors' zone defense but in the fourth quarter, the Hawks tightened up defensively and held the Raptors to only 13 points.
-J-Smoove contributed 28 points and 15 rebounds. Joe Johnson followed him with 27 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Teague gave the Hawks 13 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.
-Final Score: 93-84 Hawks. Now to close out this home stand by facing former Hawk Jamal Crawford on Wednesday...

1/14: Hawks Vs. Timberwolves

Injury update: Marvin Williams came back for the Hawks tonight! He didn't look too shabby out there. He contributed eight points and eight rebounds in just a little under 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Tracy McGrady is still out with back spasms. He is reportedly aiming to return on Monday.

-This game was predominantly Minnesota for the longest time. Ricky Rubio was being the rookie sensation that he has been so far this season by dropping 18 points, 12 assists, and 5 steals on the Hawks. However, the man who really gave the Hawks trouble was Kevin Love who finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds.
-After halftime, things looked very bleak for the Hawks as they were down by 18 to the Timberwolves at one point. However, towards the end of the 3rd quarter, the Hawks bench lead the team to a comeback.
-Teague, Radmanovic, Ivan Johnson, Collins and Willie Green all stepped up to get the Hawks back into the game. In fact, the team went on a 23-2 run in the third quarter and took the lead of the game for first time since the very beginning of the game.
-The fourth quarter was a showcase for fan favorite, Ivan Johnson. He played for 25 minutes tonight, a season high, and scored 10 points with 11 rebounds.
-Joe Johnson led the team in scoring with 25 points, while Jeff Teague looked fantastic tonight with 20 points and 10 assists. Ivan Johnson and Willie Green both finished with 10 points.
-Final Score: 93-91 Hawks. Ivan "The Terrible" strikes again.

1/12 Hawks vs Bobcats

Oh no! Al "Boss" Horford was diagnosed with a pectoral tear and could be out 3-4 months. So much for what we all thought was just a strain. We are praying for a speedy recovery. Get well soon, Al!

With Al being out, Zaza had to start in his place. Also, Marv is still out.
Bobcats lineup: DJ Augustin, Gerald Henderson, Boris Diaw, Byron Mullens, Tyrus Thomas

The Hawks came out the gate ready to prove to the world that they will not be written out of anything due to injuries!
After the first quarter, the Hawks lead the Bobcats 24-21.
Smoove and Joe were on it! By halftime, Smoove had 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists while Joe added a solid 15 points and 4 assists. The Hawks were up 10 at this point.
Heading into the fourth, the Hawks were blowing the Bobcats out with an 85-66 lead!
Deciding to tease the Bobcats ever-so-slightly, the Hawks allowed them to bring the lead down to 10, but that didn't last long.
Hawks ended this one with an impressive win of 111-81!
Smoove finished the game with 30 points and 13 rebounds, Joe had 23, Zaza posted a double-double and Jeff, Ivan and Willie scored in double digits.

1/11 Hawks @ Pacers

T-Mac is out due to back spasms. Marv is still out for his ankle.

Hawks starting lineup: Same as Jan. 9

Pacers starting lineup: Darren Collison, Paul George, Danny Granger, David West, Roy Hibbert

First basket to go in for the Hawks was a Joe Johnson three.
Smoove with the hustle move to save the possession and passed to Al for the bucket.
Al goes to the basket strong to get an and-one. Hawks up 10 with 8:30 min left.
Granger hit a three to put the Pacers up two, but the Hawks were right there with them until a hard fall that placed Al in the locker room for x-rays. It appeared Al was holding his left shoulder, although he fell on his right side.
Joe with superb defense on Granger to force some necessary pressure. Joe was showing a lot of energy on both ends of the court. End to the first, the Hawks were down 28-20. 38% shooting for Atlanta.
Al determined to be out for a left shoulder strain for the remainder of the game. A hard-hitting loss for the Hawks.
Zaza had gotten to the line some notable times during the quarter.
Smoove had a nice spin move followed by a dunk.
Joe with the nothing-but-net three pointer that gave him 10 points with 6 min left in the second.
Willie laid a tear drop over defenders to bring the Hawks within four and, on the next Hawks possession, Vlad Rad hit a three. Jeff drove to the basket to put the Hawks up one, a lead they hadn’t seen since the first quarter. Hawks had 26 points in the paint with less than one minute left in the half. At the end of the first half, the Hawks were only down by three.
Smoove was ballin’ with 14 points and 7 rebounds with 10 min left in the third. The Hawks found themselves down 12 with 6:42 min left. Foul calls and an offensive outburst from the Pacers caused the deficit. We were missin’, they were makin’. The Pacers also started showing their defensive strengths by holding the Hawks to only nine points in the entire quarter. Al’s absence was sorely felt when Hibbert started to make an indent in the game.
Notable from Ivan was a great steal and a strong dunk with the and-one! Jeff Foster hit a three at the buzzer to end the third quarter bringing the Pacers lead to 80-59.
11 turnovers in the second half signaled the kind of night the Hawks were having. They still showed some fight when Joe stole the ball and passed to Willie for a jumper but it was not enough for the Pacers who continued scoring on the other end.
Stack hit his first bucket as a Hawk during the game with 5:25 left in the game.
Donald Sloan made his first NBA appearance and got his first NBA bucket on a drive. He ended the game with 6 points.
LOL moment: Jeff Pendergraph missed a layup then rebounded the ball to attempt the dunk, he missed that as well.
Hawks fall to the Pacers with a final score of 96-84. No worries, they shall meet again…

1/9 Hawks @ Nets

Vlad started in place of Marv. Marv is expected to be out for Wednesday's game against the Pacers as well.
Tip off won by New Jersey led to Johan Petro with the first basket (giving the Nets their ONLY home lead thus far) but Joe with the quick lay-in for the tie to diminish that joy. Al worked both sides of the court when he saved a defensive rebound from going out of bounds then unselfishly passed to Vlad Rad for an open three.

Smoove was behind the three point arc (which generally makes us all hold our breath ever-so-slightly) but rethought it and moved to hit a mid-range jumper for his fourth field goal!
Defensively, the Hawks held the Nets to 3/8 shooting with six min left in the first quarter. Petro missed an easy lay-in and heard boos from the crowd and laughs from Bob and 'Nique.
Everyone on the Hawks was scoring! Jeff and Joe bullied MarShon into a turnover which led to easy buckets for Joe. Zaza lobbed to Al for the JAM with 2:18 left in the first that brought the Hawks up 25-11.
Smoove was the notable scorer with 10 points and 2 rebounds, he was 4/5 and contributed to the Hawks lead of 31-18 at the end of the first.
Pargo hit a three a minute into the 2nd quarter. Pargo passed to Vlad Rad for the money tres-ball to bring the Hawks up 37-23 with 8:58 left. T-Mac fouled Morrow on a three-pointer and made it a four-point-play, but there was no need to worry as the Hawks were up 10.
A little spark by the Nets brought them within six with the 2nd quarter closing in. But the Nets were only shooting 41% while Hawks were shooting 53%. A 14-4 run for the Nets bring them within 4.
Al got a great rebound then hit the jumper to give the Hawks some needed offense. Then Jeff hit a three to bring the lead to 7. Loose ball foul on Farmar when Smoove tried to pick up the steal Jeff produced. Then Smoove went strong to the basket for an and-one play. The Hawks were up 48-40 with less than 3 min left in the 2nd.
The Hawks had kept D.Will to 2/7 from the field in the first half. MarShon forced a jump ball that was won by the Hawks.
Joe to Willie Green for a threeeeeee to bring the Hawks lead to 11 at the half.
Smoove picked up where he left off and hit a jumper at the beginning of the third. Defense on D.Will seemed a bit lacking, he started adding to the score and assisting his teammates.
Al passed to Vlad who then passed to Smoove for the SLAM JAM THANK YOU, MA'AM to bring the lead to 9 in the 3rd.
Jeff blocked D. Will then led a fast break for a lob pass to Smoove followed by a Nets foul.
Vlad Rad with a steal to start a fast break that sent Smoove to the FT line. Farmar threw a pass to the front row of the crowd, lovely.
Nets got some second chance points but still were down 9 towards the end of the third.
Jeff exploded in the third, totaling 16 points while being 6 for 9.
Zaza with a crucial rebound put him at the FT line towards the top of the 4th. Smoove with his third game of scoring 25+ points. Beautiful pass from Smoove to Al for the JAM! Al's pass to Vlad gave him his fourth three-pointer of the game.
It wouldn't be a Hawks game if it weren't made interesting, Nets went on a run but were still down 5 points with less than one minute left. Smoove got an important rebound and, thankfully, Shawne Williams missed a possible game-changing shot and Vlad got fouled and sent to the line to hit both free throws.
D.Will made a quick three with 10 seconds left! Joe went to the line to hit both free throws to bring the Hawks up 104-98. Anthony Morrow hit a three with 4.2 seconds left. The nail-biter of the game!
Joe hit both free throws again to bring the final score to 106-101 for a Hawks win!
Three Hawks scored at least 20 points: Joe with 22, Jeff with 20, and Smoove with 26. Vlad Rad had 14 points and 6 rebounds while Big Al ended with almost a double double (so close, dang!) with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

1/7: Hawks vs. Bulls

This was the final game of a back-to-back-to back for the Hawks. Judging by the way the Hawks played tonight, you never would have guessed that.
T-Mac returned to the court for the Hawks tonight but Marvin Williams left the game around the middle of the 1st quarter after rolling his ankle. Marvin has a grade one ankle sprain. He sat out the remainder of this game and he will probably sit out the next game as well.
We were up by 17 at one point in the 1st quarter, but the Bulls came running and brought themselves within 10. They kept inching closer and brought things down to 1.
The Hawks held on and stretched the lead back up to 7 before going on a scorching hot shooting streak. The team went on a 18-2 run before halftime to lead the Bulls 63-45.
After the half, the Hawks hadn't cooled off. In the third quarter, their field goal percentage was at SIXTY-FOUR percent.
Atlanta held a 29-point lead at one point, which was the largest lead the Hawks have had this season.
Ivan Johnson entered the game during the third quarter to a great ovation by the crowd. He was called for a travel the first time that he touched the ball but soon after he made up for it by going hard and getting fouled at the basket for an and-1.
The Hawks forced the Bulls to turn the ball over twenty times during this game.
With four minutes left in the game, Larry Drew put his starters (with the exception of Marvin) back in the game to prevent the Bulls from getting too comfortable. Loved this decision.
Josh Smith had another HUGE game for the Hawks along with Vladimir Radmanovic. Honestly, everyone played well and played together tonight. Smoove had 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 blocks, 4 steals and 5 assists. Vlad Rad and Joe Johnson gave us 17 points each. Jeff Teague finished with 12 points and 5 exciting steals.
Final Score: 109 - 94 Hawks. We played a solid game - start to finish :)

1/6: Hawks @ Charlotte

This game didn't start off as the most exciting game. The Hawks were tired...let's face it, we all were.
There were still some frustrating parts of this game (missed free throws, for one) but the outcome of this was a lot more pleasant.
Willie Green's shooting was a bright spot in this game. It looks like we can rely on him to come in off the bench early in the game and knock down some nice shots for us.
Every time we built a little bit of a lead against the Bobcats, they would come right back and make things tight.
Joe Johnson struggled in most of this game but he warmed up after halftime as well as Josh Smith. Smoove had a huge 3rd quarter, especially.
As the game started winding down, the Bobcats started winding up and wouldn't you know that this game went into overtime?
This time, we handled our business in overtime. Josh Smith, Joe Johnson, and Marvin Williams all helped the Hawks end this thing in a reasonable amount of time. Al Horford had a solid game as well. He was actually the only Hawk (with the exception of Pargo who went 2-2) who knocked down all his free throws (5-5).
Marvin and Al scored 15 pts each while Joe had 14 after starting off cold tonight. The real star of the game, Josh Smith, finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
Final Score: 102 - 96 Hawks (in their red unis).

1/5: Hawks vs. heat

Right before tip-off, we found out that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade would not play against us. I'm sure several people thought that Hawks fans would be relieved. They don't know a thing about us, do they?
We don't get scared to face the league's most elite players. It excites us actually.
The Hawks didn't look excited to play tonight. The only player who was hot tonight for the Hawks was Willie Green.
At the end of the 3rd, the team woke up and we were cooking with gas.
During the 4th quarter, Ivan Johnson was the star of the game. He led the Hawks on a 12-0 run against the Heat to put the Hawks ahead in the game.
But even while the score was close, our struggles stuck out like sore thumb. We're not making free throws the way we should. We're taking ugly and unnecessary shots. Where is the team that started 3-0 at the beginning of this season?
We managed to catch up and make an [ugly] game out of this one, but we couldn't quite close it out in regular minutes. We go to overtime tied at 93.
We started off overtime looking like we gave up. Then the Hawks show life toward the end to tie it up AGAIN. (Thanks to Ivan Johnson)
We go into a 2nd overtime. It was much easier to watch than the first one. Ivan Johnson and Joe Johnson sustained us and led us to..a 3rd overtime.
It was all over. Ivan Johnson fouled out.
Final Score: 116-109. Heat. The stats don't matter.

1/3: Hawks @ chicago

The Hawks began this game the way they ended it last night - HOT. Marvin Williams & Joe Johnson were draining shots early to give the Hawks the lead and the momentum. Our defense was beautiful as we held the Bulls to only 26 points in the first half. We put ourselves in a great position EARLY.
But it's a four quarter game. We led the Bulls 56-24 at the end of the third.
In the fourth quarter, our defense slacked & our offense went down the drain. We missed way too many free throws and it hurt us in the worst way.
We couldn't withstand the running of the Bulls who chipped away at the lead and made clutch baskets in little to no time at all with all the confidence in the world.
This one should have been ours.
Final Score: 76-74 Bulls. Is it Saturday yet?

1/2 : Hawks @ Heat

Dear Miami Heat, the first loss had to come at some point right? :)
This game started off not looking too well for the Hawks. LeBron and Dwyane Wade got off to very hot start making every basket and controlling the tempo of the game early. Mario Chalmers and rookie sensation Norris Cole didn't make it any easier for us.
The Hawks were struggling offensively at the start of this game but Jeff Teague kept it going for them. He got some momentum going and from that point on, a switch came on for the Hawks.
The bench came in and carried the Hawks to a lead right before the half.
Jannero Pargo looked great for the Hawks tonight. Zaza Pachulia made some big baskets but the star on the bench tonight was clearly Tracy McGrady.
T-Mac killed the Heat in the 4th and he sealed this W for the Hawks. Of course, one man can't do it all. Al Horford was solid defensively all night for the Hawks as well as Josh Smith. Josh Smith was frustrated early on because no one was helping him out on the boards but Al stepped up immediately and it paid off in a big way.
Joe Johnson had a very hot shooting hand tonight. He led the Hawks in scoring with 21 points. T-Mac provided us with a very exciting 16 points. Horford came close to a double-double with 16 points and 9 boards while Jeff Teague finished with 15 points and 5 assists.
Final Score: 100 - 92 Hawks. Great night to be a Hawks fan. Let's do it again tomorrow.

12/31: Hawks @ Houston

Welp, the first loss had to come at some point right?
The Hawks were hit in the mouth first and they struggled to recoup all night. Every time that we got within striking distance, the Rockets would make crazy 3 pointers and steal the momentum.
Several Hawks tried to step up and take over at various times. Marvin Williams started off the game hot but the Hawks had trouble executing the ball to him. Joe Johnson, Willie Green, and Josh Smith all tried attacking the rim as often as they could but the Rockets defense wouldn't let them get too far. Tracy McGrady took over late in the game by getting rebounds and making shots to give the Hawks some life against his former team but the Rockets' offense was just too much.
The Rockets literally took (and made) every shot that they wanted. This must be how the Nets and Wizards felt against us earlier this week?
On a positive note, the Hawks could have easily been blown out tonight with the way the Rockets were shooting. Instead they hung in there and kept themselves afloat.
Joe and Al tied for 15 points tonight while T-Mac gave the squad 13 points and 6 rebounds.
Final Score: 95-84 Rockets
The Hawks will travel down to Miami to play against the Heat on Monday. The Heat are now the only undefeated team in the Southeastern Conference. Let's see if we can change that :) Go Hawks!

12/30: vs. nets

Three players who gave us plenty to cheer for tonight : Zaza Pachulia. Marvin Williams. Jeff Teague.
Zaza represented well for the bench during the first half of the game with 8 points and 6 rebounds. He was doing big things on both sides of the court from making breakaway dunks to grabbing boards left and right. He's also developing a very nice mid-range jumper.
Marvin Williams was being the same Marvin he's been thus far this season. Fighting for baskets, sinking free throws, and making a RIDICULOUS buzzer beater at the half to put the Hawks up by 6.
Jeff Teague was runnin' and gunnin', drivin' easy through the lanes to make flawless floaters. He ended up with 22 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals.
The Nets actually showed up tonight. They looked good on offense with special thanks to Marshon Brooks and Mehmet Okur. Then Deron Williams started heating up and we had ourselves a nice contest.
The Nets made it a very tight game within the last few minutes of the fourth but after a crucial timeout mistake by Marshon Brooks, the Hawks pulled ahead and sealed it up.
Joe Johnson finished with a solid 21 points. Al Horford chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Marvin and Zaza scored 11 points each. Big Z with 8 boards and Marvin with 6.
Final Score: 105-98. We are the champions.

12/28: home opener vs. Wizards

For the second consecutive time, Marvin Williams got things started for the Hawks. It's hard not to get excited about him. He looks great and he's playing great.
Jeff Teague seems confident and looks perfectly capable of carrying the team this season.
Tracy McGrady gave another solid effort tonight. I think alot of Hawks fans wrote him off because of his age, but so far he looks great! If we keep using him this way and letting him play in spurts, he could do great things for us.
Joe Johnson was himself tonight. He spotted up a few great jumpers from behind the arc. He ended up with 18 points.
Josh Smith frustrated John Wall all night. The Hawks defense has been very strong so far.
There were a few times where the team looked a little sloppy but the Wizards mirrored it. Janero Pargo is still adjusting to the team's system. Once they do, things should start flowing more easily for them.
The Hawks have definitely matured this season and their team chemistry looks flawless.
Marvin Williams led the team (again) in scoring with 17 points and 8 rebounds. It's very awesome to see him doing great offensively but also grab a few boards.
Smoove had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the night. Al, T-Mac, and Jeff Teague scored 11 points each.
Final Score: 101-83 Hawks
The New Jersey Nets will be visiting the Highlight Factory this Friday, November 30th.

12/27: season opener @ New Jersey

Donald Sloan will sat out of tonight's contest with an injury.
The starting lineup tonight for the Hawks was Teague, J. Johnson, Williams, Horford, and Smith.
Deron Williams, Anthony Morrow, Johan Petro, Kris Humphries, and Damion James got things started for the Nets.
The Hawks started the game with great energy. Marvin hit two 3-pointers & Jeff Teague followed after him with a 3-pointer of his own.
The team is running more and it is working in their favor. They are looking great on both sides of the ball.
At the end of the 1st quarter, the Hawks led the Nets 28 - 11.
The trend continued throughout the second quarter. The Nets struggled offensively against the tremendous defense by the Hawks.
Jeff Teague hit the Nets with a brutal dagger from being the arc to seal the half. Hawks stretched the lead 52-30.
The Hawks bench was big for the Hawks despite the criticism it received before the season. The bench provided 55 of the 106 points by the Hawks.
Zaza scored the first double-double for the Hawks this season.
Radmanovic led all Hawks in scoring with 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Marvin Williams finished with 14 points.
Ugly night for the Nets. Beautiful night for the Hawks. Final score: 106-70.

12/22: preseason finale vs. Charlotte @ home:

Donald Sloan started the game for Jeff Teague who is sitting out with an ankle injury.
Josh Smith scored the first points tonight for the Hawks as he did during the first preseason game.
Sloan started off the game explosively tonight - competing for a permanent spot on the roster.
Tracy McGrady was welcomed into the game with a nice round of cheers.
It sure is good to hear "ZA ZA PACHUUUULIAAA!"
The 1st quarter ended just as it began: with both teams tied. The score: 27-27.
The scoring well went dry at the start of the second quarter but Marvin Williams hit a 3 at the halfway mark to try to spark something before the end of the 1st half.
Ivan Johnson showed some life for the Hawks during the entire 2nd quarter and helped to keep the Hawks in the game.
At the half, Hawks lead 49-46.

The Bobcats caused the Hawks some frustration during most of the 3rd but the Hawks kept themselves afloat.
Hawks completely turned things around in the 4th. They showed tremendous defense and wore the Bobcats down.
Hawks Win! Final Score: 92-75! Josh Smith led in scoring with 21 points. Ivan Johnson had 15, Joe Johnson had 12, and Vladimir Radmanovic had 11.
On to the first game of the regular season on Tuesday, December 27th!

12/19: Preseason game @ Charlotte:

The starting lineup for the Hawks tonight consisted of: Teague, Johnson, Williams, Smith, and Horford.
Josh Smith was the first one to score for the Hawks tonight, looking very slender & alot faster! He looks as if he'll have a great season. Will he finally get an All-Star nod this year??
Radmanovic scores a 3 immediately upon entering his first game as Hawk.
At the end of the 1st, the Bobcats lead the Hawks 27-24.

At the half, Hawks led Charlotte 49 - 43. Marvin Williams had 9, Josh Smith had 8, and Al Horford had 5.
2nd half Hawks Starters: Sloan, Johnson, McGrady, Rolle, and Horford.
Keith Benson blocked 3 shots in 9 minutes. He had an overall impressive game as did Pape Sy.
Marvin Williams & Joe Johnson logged in the most minutes during the game at 21:07 and 21:05 respectively.
Josh Smith and Al Horford led the team in scoring with 11 points each.
It was a very tight game all throughout. The Hawks had a total of 15 turnovers and 9 rebounds. The Bobcats matched our turnovers and had 11 rebounds. The Bobcats edged out the Hawks 79-77.
The two teams will face each other again on Thursday, December 22nd at the Highlight Factory for the final preseason game.

Training camp: Summary

How sweet it is to have Hawks basketball back.

The Hawks signed Vladimir Radmanovic in hopes of finding a solid 3-point shooter. Remember the days when Bibby would pull up from behind the arc and rain a nice 3? *sigh* It'll be exciting to see what Radmanovic can do for us this season. He's 31 years old but he shot 43% from the 3-point line last season. Pair him up with a hot-shooting Joe Johnson and we may have something nice here.

The Hawks also signed our recent draft pick, Keith Benson. Of course, the biggest signee has been Tracy McGrady. We all know him. There are skeptics about what he can bring to the Hawks but the team itself is excited to have him. That's all that matters at the end of the day, right?

Another seasoned vet is gracing the Hawks with his presence right now. He has not been signed yet, but Jerry Stackhouse is a member of the training camp roster. Word from the practice court says that he is in great shape and moving fluidly. We'll have to stay tuned to see what Stackhouse can still do. Coach says that he will be looked at very closely during camp.

What's more fitting than Jason Collins re-signing on Dwight Howard's birthday? *snicker* Word from the Hawks training camp is that Twin showed up to camp looking slimmer than he was last year (for the second consecutive year). The big guy added more muscle to his frame. During the lockout, Collins was determined to take care of his body for the benefit of helping out his team. His team...the Hawks. He chose the Hawks over some other teams who became interested in him after seeing his performance against the Magic in the first round of the playoffs. He stayed loyal to the Hawks because "it's fun to play with these guys." (quote via the AJC) Welcome back, Jason. It's fun watching you guys play.

Perhaps the most exciting bits from camp are the following story lines:
-The New and Improved Marvin Williams
-The Continuation of the Jeff Teague Story
-The Skinny on Josh Smith

Marvin's back surgery over the summer has apparently drastically changed his walk and hopefully his play. I for one am very excited to see how Marvin will play this season. If the confidence is there then everything else will follow. "I haven't felt this good in a long time," Marvin told the AJC.

How exciting was it to see Jeff Teague turn heads during the second round of the playoffs last year? Of course those outside of Hawk nation wrote off the Hawks as soon as it was announced that JT was going to be the starting PG against the Bulls last year. Those of us inside Hawk Country didn't think he was going to be that good. He's going to remain the starting PG for the time being and everyone, especially his teammates, are anxious to see how he's going to perform.

When J-Smoove showed up to Philips for the voluntary workout before camp started, we were all gawking at how slender he's gotten. He's reportedly weighing in at 225 lbs, the size he was in high school. With that extra weight trimmed off of him, you can only imagine how high-flying his dunks will be now.
